Birmingham, United Kingdom SF Executive Full time

The Organisation

Headquartered in Birmingham, our client is an exciting, fast-growing business operating across multiple UK sites and supplying value-added products/materials into the construction sector. They currently operate across 10 sites, have approximately 150 employees, and boast numerous high-profile projects in their portfolio. As they continue on their exciting growth journey to become the market leader, they are keen to establish a consistent "people first" ethos across every site and element of their business. To this end, they are looking to hire a Human Resources Director/Head of People to join their businesses and help shape the people strategy and culture of the organisation.

The Role

This is an ideal role for an HR professional that is familiar with devising/modernising/implementing a wide-ranging people strategy. As the Human Resources Director, you will play a pivotal role in shaping the organisation's workforce strategies and contributing to the company’s continued growth. You will ideally have sector-relevant experience (construction/distribution/logistics/manufacturing) to support your leadership of the HR function. Line managing a team of your own, you will work closely with the senior leadership team by balancing the day-to-day needs of the HR function with facilitating the organisation’s overarching people strategy and management of risk while helping to drive forward the objectives and positive people culture through the organisation's core values.

In this wide-ranging role, you'll take ownership of the organisation's HR strategy, and with your team, you will own the recruitment (and retention) strategy, devise and implement an L&D programme, devise a reward & recognition strategy, advise on risk and employment law issues, and build an exciting and attractive national and local employer brand. As the organisation further pushes forward with its acquisition strategy, you’ll need to know your way around TUPE processes.

The Candidate

The successful Human Resources Director will:

  1. have worked in a similar senior Human Resources leadership role, balancing the strategic and operational elements perfectly
  2. be educated to a Degree or MSc level in Human Resources and/or hold or be actively working towards the Level 7 CIPD (holding CIPD membership)
  3. have in-depth knowledge of UK employment legislation and pending changes
  4. have experience of working in a multisite environment in one of the following sectors - construction/distribution/logistics/manufacturing
  5. be familiar with the Levy and apprenticeship scheme
  6. be proficient in IT systems, including the implementation of new HR business applications on a group-wide scale
  7. act with integrity, being pragmatic and able to deal with ambiguity
  8. have experience and sound knowledge of TUPE arrangements and Pension Schemes
  9. be able to communicate with stakeholders of all levels
  10. be Midlands-based, and commutable to Birmingham
Package

Fantastic salary, car allowance and wider package
