Operations Manager – Consultancy About the Role
At Harmony Fire, our consultancy services play a vital role in shaping safe, efficient, and compliant projects. As Operations Manager – Consultancy, you will lead the consultancy division, ensuring our strategies, people, and sub-consultants deliver outstanding results for clients and for the business.
This is a leadership role for an A-Player who thrives on strategy, accountability, and commercial delivery. You'll combine client relationship management, financial oversight, and team leadership to deliver projects that protect lives and set new standards of excellence.
Key Responsibilities
Lead the consultancy divisions Operations, ensuring alignment with Harmony's wider business goals and methodology
Own and develop client relationships, acting as a trusted advisor and delivering value through expertise and insight
Provide accurate forecasting of project costs, resources, and programme milestones – maintaining accuracy within 10%
Ensure consultancy projects are delivered on time, within budget, and to the highest compliance standards
Drive financial performance by protecting margin, managing sub-consultant input, and ensuring value for money
Support business development with expert advice on scope, compliance, and programme matters
Negotiate effectively with clients and sub-consultants, justifying costs and demonstrating value
Select, manage, and develop high-performing sub-consultants to ensure capacity, capability, and accountability
Mentor and coach consultancy staff, contributing to appraisals, professional development, and performance management
Innovate and streamline processes to maximise efficiency and delivery performance
Collaborate closely with Delivery to ensure seamless transition from consultancy to works phase
Manage project challenges to 100% resolution, both internally and externally
Produce structured client progress reports and maintain accurate records in Salesforce
Promote and embed the Harmony methodology (Think, Protect, Sustain) across all consultancy projects
What We're Looking For
Strong background in consultancy or project management within construction, M&E, or fire protection
Proven ability to lead project strategy and execution from scope through to deliverables
Commercial intelligence and financial acumen – able to protect margins while maintaining client trust
Skilled communicator – clear, persuasive, and empathetic with clients and sub-consultants
Logical, proactive problem solver who brings solutions, not just challenges
Strong leadership and people management skills – able to inspire, coach, and hold others to account
Highly organised with a do it right first time mindset
Ambitious, passionate, and committed to building a consultancy service that outperforms competitors
