Associate - Freedom of Information (FOI) & Strategic Engagement

Glasgow, United Kingdom The Scottish National Investment Bank Full time €48,000 - €56,000

Associate – Freedom of Information (FOI) & Strategic Engagement

12-month Fixed Term Contract

Based: Edinburgh or Glasgow

The Scottish National Investment Bank is seeking an Associate – FOI & Strategic Engagement to play a vital role within our Partnerships & Engagement team. As a purpose-driven organisation, we are committed to creating positive, lasting environmental, societal, and financial impacts for the people of Scotland.

We are looking for a diligent and detail-oriented coordinator with the passion, integrity, and discretion to provide exceptional support under time-critical deadlines. While experience handling FOI requests is beneficial, the key attributes for this role include:

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Interpersonal and influencing abilities – recognising where requests may have either commercial or personal sensitivities
  • Self-motivation with the ability to prioritise effectively and manage competing priorities under pressure.
  • Proactive approach with the initiative to advance tasks on behalf of the bank.
  • Experience handling sensitive and confidential information.

In this role, you will manage case workflows, advise senior leaders on what is required to comply with individual FOI requests, and collaborate with internal and external stakeholders. Your can-do attitude and ability to handle diverse tasks are essential.

Freedom of Information requests do not arrive at the Bank at regular intervals, requiring significant focus when several requests are received in a short period of time. Where FOI requirements are lower, the role holder will support the Partnership and Engagement team more broadly including, for example, helping to prepare internal reporting or material for external publication.

We welcome candidates who may not meet all the criteria but believe they can excel in this role. We value diverse experiences and perspectives, and your unique background could be a great addition to our team. We support flexible working and strive to build a fairer, more sustainable, and innovative Scotland.

At the Scottish National Investment Bank, we offer a supportive culture that values your expertise and autonomy, encourages continuous learning, and provides opportunities for meaningful work. The salary range is £48-56k, depending on experience, with additional benefits including 30 days annual leave plus public holidays, a 12% non-contributory pension, volunteer days, and more. We operate a hybrid working model and are open to discussing flexible working patterns.

If you are eligible under the Disability Confident Scheme or need any adjustments to support your application, please reach out to us. We are committed to providing the support needed for you to participate fully in our recruitment process.
