The role – Retirement Housing Scheme Manager

You'll manage our retirement housing scheme Rose Bush Court in Camden.Rose Bush Court has 57 flats andresidents are over 65 years of age andare semi-independent. We're looking for someone whotruly cares about, and has deep knowledge of, issues affecting vulnerable people and the elderly.Monthly Social activities include: afternoon tea twice weekly, games evenings, t'ai chi class weekly, organised by residents and the scheme manager.

If you're someone who wants to make a difference to vulnerable older people totheir wellbeing and understand that social isolation can happen anywhere and to anybody then this could be the role for you.

You'llwork closely with and support the Retirement Housing Manager in delivering a high-quality Retirement Housing service to our organisation.This is a rewarding and exciting position, responsible for building relationships and trust internally within your Origin team and Residents.

What you’ll do

You will

  • Act as main point of contact for Residents and their families.
  • Write and review reports and complete risk assessments
  • Respond to emergency situations received via the Warden Call system during daytime hours
  • Ensure all Health & Safety policies and procedures are maintained within the service including the prompt reporting and follow up of communal repairs
  • Carry out regular Scheme and estate inspections including regular fire alarm tests and fire Safety inspections

Skills and experience we'd like you to have

We’re looking for someone who:

  • is experienced in working with vulnerable adults in a semi-independent housing service, as well as have a strong understanding of the needs of Older People.
  • possesses a sound knowledge of welfare benefits and health and safety procedures for this type of service and is confident in supporting residents with benefit applications and queries, including making referrals for additional welfare advice and support.
  • is a practical thinker and doer, able to plan and prioritise work, and adapt to change when necessary so you must be able to priorities your work and meet firm deadlines.
  • has experience of working in a customer focused environment, preferably in the housing sector
  • has the ability to communicate with a wide range of people across different cultures.
  • has the ability to plan, prioritise and deliver work to targets/deadlines
  • is a confident communicator across all channels with good written and verbal communication skills and good IT skills
  • is comfortable to work on their own as this post is predominantly lone working
