This is an exciting new role that will work across all children's services within City of York Council, providing expertise, support, and guidance, the candidatewill have a strong strategic influence in the development of our Building Brighter Futures practice framework. You will work closely with senior managers to ensure that our ambitions for children and young people in York are realised and that positive outcomes are achieved.

Candidates should be significantly experienced clinicians with excellent interdisciplinary working skills and interested in developing and delivering innovation. A proven track record of clinical leadership contributing to the collective leadership of the multi-agency team and supervisory experience in the field of community child and adolescent mental health is essential.

The post holder will have a proven track record of working with vulnerable and care experienced children, young people, families and carers, in health or local authority settings, many of whom have experienced trauma and can have multiple, complex needs.

Main duties of the job

Supporting the development and delivery of a trauma informed approach that will upskill practitioners across children's services, both in social care and education.

Support a range of professionals in delivering support to children and young people and their families/networks who are classed as high risk and high vulnerability through consultation, formulation and risk assessment.

Provide highly specialist psychological assessment of young people with severe and enduring conditions based on the appropriate use, interpretation and integration of data from a variety of sources.Undertake risk assessment and risk management for individuals and provide highly specialist advice to other professionals on psychological aspects of risk assessment and risk management and the high physical risks.Formulates plans for highly specialist psychological therapy and/or management of young people' mental health conditions based upon an appropriate conceptual framework and evidence-based practice.Implements a wide range of highly specialist psychological therapies for individual clients, carers, families and groups, adjusting and refining psychological formulations as required.

Provides expert psychological advice, guidance and consultation to other staff contributing directly to young person's diagnosis, formulation and intervention plan.

Job responsibilities

The post holder will provide a range of consultant level roles and responsibilities as detailed within the job description. This will include the delivery of highly specialist psychological assessment, formulation and interventions to children and their families through direct clinical work with children and families, offering clinical supervision and consultation, staff training alongside leading on service development and evaluation.

We are looking for someone creative and flexible to work in partnership with health and social care. The post holder will provide consultation, teaching, training to health and local authority colleagues and psychological assessment and intervention to young people who present with a range of risks and needs.

CAMHS Service Manager

Person Specification Qualifications
  • Post-graduate training (doctoral level equivalent) in clinical / counselling / forensic psychology (or its equivalent prior to 1996) as accredited by the BPS.
  • HCPC registration as a Practitioner Psychologist
  • Post-doctoral training in one or more additional specialised areas of psychological practice
  • Trained in clinical supervision and the supervision of doctoral trainees
  • Trained in care co-ordination
  • Evidence of continuing professional development
  • Registration with BPS

Other Requirements

Experience
  • Must have substantial experience of:- Working as a qualified applied psychologist within the designated service including a wide variety of client groups, across the whole life course and full range of clinical severity across the full range of care settings.
  • Exercising full clinical responsibility for clients' psychological care as a care co-ordinator and leader of a multidisciplinary team.
  • Liaison and joint working with statutory, voluntary and private sector agencies
  • Teaching, training, clinical supervision and field supervisor for doctoral theses.
  • Research and development
  • Project management of quality and service improvement initiatives.
  • Providing clinical and professional leadership to other qualified and non-qualified members of the profession.
