Calderdale and Kirklees Child and Adolescent Mental Health Service (CAMHS) has an exciting opportunity to recruit to the Eating Disorder team.

The successful candidate will be a part of the pathway and will support the team in developing and driving this intervention within the Eating Disorders service, as well as working as part of our developing ARFID offer in CAMHS.

This will include supporting service development based on best practice guidelines and existing research and evidence. Further requirements can be found within the person specification and job description.

You will deliver high quality interventions following care planning, treatment and be part of regular reviews (CPA) with the practitioners in your team for children and young people who meet the criteria of the pathway.

Many eating disorders, such as Anorexia Nervosa and Bulimia Nervosa, are well-known even among non-medical professionals. This is largely thanks to ongoing media attention and education efforts, however we need to ensure we engage effectively with the family to better support young people.

By identifying children and young people earlier and providing the right support, we can work with families to provide a dedicated treatment plan to be able to, prevent escalation and reduce long term difficulties and decrease the pressures in the ED and acute services.

Main duties of the job

The successful candidate will:

Be passionate about improving the delivery of evidence-based treatments for children, young people and their families.

Be a driven, enthusiastic and forward thinking.

Have knowledge of Eating Disorders and ARFID.

Have experience of working in a CAMHS setting.

Have excellent assessment, risk assessment, care planning and reviewing skills.

Be able to work and participate within an MDT.

Manage a caseload of young people with Eating Disorder and ARFID presentation/ diagnoses.

Attend at a variety of meetings to discuss complex cases as well as liaison with other services.

Be able to consult with others to give advice and guidance regarding a Systemic approach.

The post also involves attendance at a variety of meetings with our external partners/agencies to ensure effective pathways of care.

Delivery of group interventions where appropriate.

To personally maintain accurate records.

Developing and maintaining supportive professional networks across the trust.

To liaise with and actively promote excellent working relationships and support the Senior Mental Health Practitioner with communication & working practices with referring teams and partner agencies.

This would include the provision of expert advice to multi-agency partners.

Job responsibilities

This job description is an outline of the main duties of the post. The post holder will be required to undertake other duties commensurate with the grade as directed.

The content of this post will be reviewed in consultation with the post holder when necessary and in line with the service developments.

The post holder will provide specialist clinical psychology skills within a multidisciplinary team. The post holder will provide a high quality clinical service to the users of the service.

They will provide highly specialist psychological assessment and intervention while working collaboratively with non-psychologist colleagues, professionals from other agencies and carers.

They will be clinically responsible to a senior clinical psychologist. Clinical oversight of all work will be held by the clinical lead in the service.

The job plan will be delivered in the services the post is based.

The post holder will work autonomously within professional guidelines and the overall framework of the team while observing Trust and National policies and procedures.

The post holder will provide support to Assistant Psychologists and Doctoral trainees. They will utilise research skills in audit, service development and research relevant to the post.

To offer consultation, supervision and training when required by other agencies involved in the psychological, emotional and behavioural well-being of people referred to the service.

To provide consultation, assessment and intervention in the service.

To work collaboratively in a multidisciplinary context.

To provide assessment and treatment options for people experiencing moderate, severe and complex mental health problems .

To exercise expert clinical judgement based on the highest standards of evidence based practise.

To continually seek to expand and consolidate clinical skills using training, experience, and supervision.

To be proficient in the use of Psychometric testing appropriate to the age range.

To provide specialist risk assessment of and intervention to people who present to the service.

To follow appropriate Adult and Child Protection guidelines in all Clinical work, including close liaison with all agencies.

To liaise and consult with the wider professional network in the care of the client.

Essential


  • Communication skills.
  • A Current driving licence and access to a car during the working day is essential (reasonable adjustments will be considered for any applicants who are unable to drive due to a disability).
  • IT Literate.

  • Knowledge of adult & child protection legislation.
  • Awareness of legislation relevant to the clinical area of practice.

Qualifications

Essential


  • Hons. Degree in Psychology.
  • Doctoral qualification clinical psychology.
  • Appropriate safeguarding training.
  • Registration with the Health and Care Professions Council as a Clinical Psychologist.

Desirable


  • 2:1 min.
  • Eligible for chartered status.

Experience

Essential


  • Completion of supervised clinical practice in the NHS.
  • Ability to work within two models of psychological assessment, formulation and intervention.

Desirable


  • Experience in working with service users in the clinical area of the post.
  • Different theoretical approaches.
  • Work with other disciplines.
