Purpose of Position:

This is a dual position working cross functionally across our Commercial Partnerships and Communication team. This role will be working with internal stakeholders and third party providers to ensure the smoothe running of our China entity. The role will help implement the strategy for new and current territories with expert advice on how to operate with providers, once established there will be on going account management.

Commercial Partnerships Responsibilities:

  • Manage the China business to meet and advance the company’s unified commerce vision.
  • Help develop and implement the strategy for new and current territories / partners in the region, whilst supporting the global strategy.
  • Work with Finance and all commercial channels to produce global business analysis and reports.
  • Full responsibility for the brand development in the territories alongside the local partners.
  • Work closely with partners, finance and logistic departments on payments and deliveries to meet global launches.
  • Work cross-functionally with teams to ensure the project’s timely delivery and identify and anticipate potential blockers within project development; full ownership of the GANT project and close monitoring of the progress and key deliverables, as well as impact on the overall project
  • Work with production and merchandising departments on collection edit, seasonal & core product based on local product feedback, brand guidelines and a knowledge of the market and brand.
  • Liaise with the Legal department on Terms & Conditions, contract renewals and updates.
  • Collaborate with the marketing department and our partners to deliver store openings, seasonal activations, pop-ups and events.
  • Liaise with partners and architects on store location approval and shop fit sign off.
  • Produce reports, business reviews and product performance analysis including sell-throughs, turnover, budgets.
  • Be accountable for the presentation of the brand in various POS offline and online according to the brand standards.
  • Provide seasonal and general brand training to our partners.
  • Manage and update P&L, close monitoring budget / expenses and their impact on store and consolidated P&L. Lead negotiations with potential online/offline partners and ensure alignment with the project P&L.
  • Research and compile quantitative and qualitative feedback on markets, competitors, and category trends.
  • Work with potential landlord and retail partners to find out information on potential locations
  • Work with partners to agree business plans, OTBs, targets and monitor KPIs.

Communication Responsibilities:

  • Report to the Senior marketing and Communications Manager, implementing annually a China communications strategy in line with business objectives.
  • Define media spend, tracking ROI and work with media partners and agencies to ensure investments translate editorially and reach annual targets.
  • Manage and develop relationship with local agencies setting annual KPI’s distributing seasonal assets, overseeing press days and actively pitching within their markets
  • Strategically plan and pitch press editorial around all brand events, new store openings and standalone ideas i.e. collaborations and one-off projects as well as develop seasonal press stories and pitches for usage in China
  • Oversee and produce all trade and consumer press releases for local territory including translation
  • Oversee the brand’s social media presence and develop strategies for content creation, community and brand advocacy.
  • Collaborate with internal teams: work closely with product, marketing, content and press teams in HO to ensure consistent brand messaging across all communication channels relevant to the market.
  • Provide guidance and support in developing marketing campaigns and product launches
  • Review and approve opportunities from celebrity dressing to collaborations to create interesting brand news stories in the local market
  • Ensure all seasonal press days for the men’s and women’s collections throughout the year are executed within brand guidelines
  • Source opportunities for the brand including loans, bespoke product and partnerships
  • Ensure excellent relationships are built and nurtured with all editors, stylists and key industry influencers
  • Identify adhoc opportunities ensuring maximum ROI
  • Oversee seasonal press sample orders with the Press Coordinator
  • Build Manolo Blahnik in-house press database and ensure it is regularly updated
  • Monitor all communications results and compile subsequent reports across editorial, social, events, projects and collaborations. Ensure a detailed analysis is included, in addition to any relevant statistics, rankings and ROI
  • Develop crisis communication plans and procedures to effectively handle any negative publicity that may arise.
  • Follow topical news stories and distribute daily alerts
  • Manage the China communications budget

Experience Required:

  • Essential - Mandarin speaking (level 3/3a)
  • In-depth knowledge of the luxury market in Mainland China is required.
  • Stay updated on relevant industry news, market trends
  • Must have a proven experience in Wholesale/Retail, brand management and luxury sales in China.
  • Experience of developing a luxury brand in China within the fashion and/or accessories sector, offline and online.
  • Solid understanding of a luxury communications role as well as proven experience of developing and managing agencies
  • Demonstrate global relationship management experience at a senior level.
  • Excellent analytical skills, report-writing skills, accuracy and attention to detail.
  • Strong problem-solving skills with a robust, solution-based mindset. Ability to prioritise tasks, and ensure delivery of results within tight deadlines.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced and entrepreneurial environment by being flexible and adaptable
  • Strong negotiation and influencing skills.
  • Communication: Advanced and effective presentation skills and ability to converse with a diverse range of people at all levels.
  • Brand Ambassador: A strong and passionate team player.
  • Extensive travelling may be required.
