Lead Technical Integration Manager is required to work for the Client Organisation (High Speed Two Ltd) responsible for the New High-Speed Rail project in the UK.. The Lead Technical Integration Manager reports to the Head of System Lifecycle Integration within HS2’s System Integration Team within the Chief Engineer Department, the role manages 2 Technical Integration Managers. Working on Phase 1 of the project, which, is valued c£60 billion has 10 years left to run and Integration Team & the wider system integration department will be required to the very end & likely into service, excellent opportunities for development and progression. Highlighted by the fact 45% of all vacancies are filled internally. Job overview The Lead Technical Integration Manager ensures that the top-down interface management capability Is developed and implemented within HS2 and its supply chain. The role will act as a focus point for HS2’s strategic approach to technical interface management working with teams across HS2’s delivery organisations to ensure effective integration across disciplines and contracts. The role sets out HS2 common approach to managing system interfaces across the whole HS2 programme, across 20 or so contracts (civils, Station, rail systems), 30+ contractors assisting HS2 in its role as the Prime System integrator. Using a bespoke Systems tool ‘Relatics’ – Systems Model based tool enables HS2 & integrated project teams to highlight where there are interfaces across the programme, currently 1500 of which 150 are High Risk interfaces. The Lead Technical integration Manager will ensure the interface management framework is correctly implemented, assisting and training where necessary (HS2 & Supply Chain), improving the process (CI) where necessary. The role does not seek to solve the individual interface issues but highlight potential risks, bring the correct people together and assist them in managing the interfaces correctly. But must understand the systems approach to managing complex projects 0 certification, assurance, configuration etc is essential. Work Situation – Hybrid The preferred office location is Birmingham will also consider London, Euston and they operate a flexible hybrid working model working around 2 days a week from the office. Overall, this is a very flexible modern employer who cares about delivery not where you deliver from, however, if you wish to be based front the office more you can. Salary (London) £80 – 85,000 + Pen (6:12) + Health + 25 day Birmingham £70 – 75,000 + Pen (6:12) + Health + 25 day Duties & Responsibilities

  • Lead the strategic approach throughout HS2 on interface management, working with all parts of the organisation to ensure that suitable resources, tools and process are in place;
  • Accountable for owning, updating and implementing the HS2 wide framework and processes in the Interface Management Plan;
  • Accountable for procurement, roll-out and maintenance of a HS2 wide software application for interface management;
  • Ensure that interface engineers/managers have the necessary skills and understanding to deliver interface management objectives. Ensure that competence levels for interface management are set out and that HS2 has appropriate competence to undertake the planned interface management work;
  • Where there are interface resolution issues, capture and prioritise the interfaces for escalation to the appropriate decision making group;
  • Provide training and guidance to the wider HS2 organisation on how to do effective interface management;
  • Develop and implement the use of best practice and innovative engineering techniques, technologies and processes, driving consistency and helping to identify opportunities for efficiencies across Phase 1 and Phase 2 delivery teams;
  • Conduct audits of the application of interface management process within HS2 and the supply chain.

Candidate Criteria Looking for a Systems Engineer with interface management experience on large complex programme open to people from Rail or indeed other safety critical sectors – aerospace, defence, nuclear etc. You will understand the system engineering approach and be an expert in interface management / systems integration. Also need to have excellent communication skill and ability to influence stakeholders without having direct authority for then. Skills
  • Able to provide specialist technical support and leadership on discipline- specific scientific, technical and engineering principles to project development
  • / delivery teams, but knowing when to seek further guidance from other Subject Matter Experts or others.
  • Capable of being a Standard Owner, working under the guidance of the Standard Discipline Owner.
  • Meets minimum CPD requirement for professional institution every year.
  • Ability to communicate most discipline-specific technical ideas to colleagues, based largely on examples of application.
  • Ability to apply many principles relating to standards, safety and the environment and able to articulate the rest.
  • Applies principles and methods that ensure effective information management, modelling and data security; understands the approaches and consequences to data creation, transformation and visualisation and knowing when to seek guidance from other Subject Matter Experts or others.
  • Ability to define discipline specific criteria
Knowledge:
  • Applicable UK construction regulations including CDM requirements
  • Understanding of the Regulatory/Legislative Framework relevant to HS2
  • Commercial awareness including understanding of cost delivery, schedule targets and the need to deliver an integrated solution that meets all functional requirements.
  • Understanding of many other disciplines
  • Chartered Engineer/Membership of an appropriate professional institution or working towards with the equivalent experience.
