The Role

Job Title: Bank Night Mental Health Helpline Operator

Hours: Casual, as and when required

Shift Pattern: Casual, as and when required

P3 is working in conjunction with the NHS, Derbyshire Clinical Commissioning Group and the Police and Crime Commissioner to provide non-clinical support to the Derbyshire and Derby City Mental Health Urgent Care Hub. Triage workers will be employed to answer calls from members of the public who have concerns around their mental health.

Training will be given to ensure staff are equipped with the skills to ensure that the calls are managed effectively with a focus on accessing available community resources to help manage their mental wellbeing, avoiding a clinical intervention where possible.

As a Bank Mental Health Helpline Operator you will providetelephone support services to people using helpline services with the objective of preventing escalation to a clinical mental health intervention. Bank Helpline Operators will be the first point of contact within the mental health helpline.

The role includes greeting callers, establishing rapport, and assessing the level of risk and need, providingadvice and guidance to the callers exploring practical solutions utilising community resources where possible. Follow up support will also be provided on a planned non-crisis basis.
