St Francis Xavier’s Catholic Academy, founded in 1842, is a Catholic Academy with a co-educational Sixth Form with a strong academic tradition and 1000 pupils across Key Stage 3 and 4. The Sixth Form has strong collaborative links with partner schools across the city.

We seek to appoint an outstanding, innovative and committed Pastoral Head of Year (Non-Teaching) . The successful candidate will positively make a difference by leading a year group as they move through the academy supporting students, enabling both attainment and high quality learning in order to support the academy’s pastoral care.

The successful candidate will be an exceptional leader who possesses the necessary interpersonal skills enabling them to establish trust, support and good working partnerships with students, parents/carers and external agencies.

Role Details

As an improving school, this is an exciting opportunity for someone with the vision and skills to deliver inspirational pastoral support whilst having the focus and drive to ensure successful outcomes are reached across a designated year group.

This is a full time, pastoral role within our support staff team. The purpose of this role is to oversee the general welfare, progress, behaviour and overall pastoral needs of the students in a specified year group and to address pastoral needs of students who require assistance in overcoming barriers to learning in order to achieve their full potential.

You will play a significant role in providing the highest quality pastoral care to our students. You will have a clear understanding of pastoral issues within an educational setting specifically.

You will also play a pivotal role in developing the academic, social and emotional development of your year group. You will be responsible for creating a positive and nurturing environment that encourages students to strive for excellence .
