- 2 yearsA fantastic opportunity has arisen for a highly motivated and experienced Head of Innovation Capacity Strengthening (ICS) to join our team at LSTM.

The FLIGHT Head of ICS) is a strategic leadership role within LSTM, responsible for directing the Research England funded FLIGHT programme.

Reporting to the Head of Enterprise & Innovation (E&I), this position involves managing all facets of the FLIGHT initiative, supervising the team, ensuring KPI achievement, and fostering external collaborations to enhance innovation portfolios, particularly in Low
- and Middle-Income Countries (LMICs). The Head of ICS will pioneer the development of Innovation Capacity Strengthening as a new research focus, driving grant income and publication outputs while supporting broader impact goals.

**Key Responsibilities will include (but not limited to):
- **
FLIGHT Programme Coordination and Development:
- Coordinate and enhance FLIGHT's training offerings in collaboration with Knowledge Exchange (KE) and Learning & Development (L&D) colleagues.
- Collaborate on Innovation Policy development with KE colleagues.
- Drive E&I capacity strengthening activities, particularly in commercialization and fostering an entrepreneurial mindset, in consultation with the Head of E&I.
- Support the delivery of the Enterprise and Innovation strategy aligning with LSTM's broader objectives.
- Representation of E&I unit in relevant committees/steering groups focusing on the innovation agenda.
- Provide intelligence on the innovation landscape to inform LSTM's strategy and research direction.

Innovation Capacity Strengthening:
- Develop and lead the ICS team, directing research processes and external opportunities in alignment with E&I objectives.
- Lead and contribute to grant submissions involving innovation activities and oversee ICS publications to peer-reviewed journals.
- Drive E&I initiatives for LSTM's Global Hubs.
- Efficiently manage the ICS team, fostering valuable prospects and overseeing existing innovation relationships.
- Design and conduct innovation-related training for LSTM staff.
- Develop innovation ecosystems, focusing on LMIC partnerships, aligning with ICS objectives.
- Identify and foster strategic partnership opportunities supporting LSTM's innovation portfolio.
- **
Marketing, Communications, and External Relations:
- Act as a liaison for LSTM's external innovation opportunities, representing LSTM at external events and meetings.
- Support external communication strategies, expanding LSTM's stakeholder network through proactive E&I engagement.
- Offer critical external market intelligence and competitor landscape insights.
- Elevate LSTM's profile to external audiences, promoting its impact and activities.

**Ideally, you will be able to demonstrate**:

- Advanced degree in a relevant field; PhD preferred.
- Extensive experience in leading innovation programs/projects within a research or academic setting.
- Strong track record in grant acquisition, publications, and building successful collaborations.
- Excellent leadership, communication, and stakeholder management skills.
- Deep understanding of innovation ecosystems and capacity building, especially in LMIC contexts.
- Experience of tech transfer and Biotech.
- Proven ability to align strategic objectives with broader organizational goals.
- Ability to travel Nationally and internationally to fulfil the requirements of the role.
- Ability to represent LSTM professionally in diverse external settings.
