We have an exciting opportunity for an experienced Occupational Therapist, to expand their professional skills and experience in our Older Adults CMHT in Bromley. The ideal Occupational Therapist will have recent experience working in Community Mental Health setting including care co-ordination.


The Older Adults Community Mental Health Team in Bromley offers a specialist multi-disciplinary service for people with mental health needs. You will join a highly experienced multi-disciplinary team and work closely together to ensure smooth and seamless transitions between mental health services. By providing specialist assessment and treatment and commissioning social support, the overarching principle of the service is to enable older people to live independently in the community for as long as possible. The post holder will work alongside other OT colleague and provide specialist Occupational Therapy assessment and intervention. You will be responsible for providing supervision for support staff within the team and contribute to the development of both the occupational therapy and team pathways.
The post holder will ne able to work independently and autonomously within the community mental health team (CMHT), providing specialist Occupational Therapy (OT) assessment and evidence based interventions. The post holder will be actively involved in the older peoples' Occupational Therapy services, the Directorate, and Trust wide, contributing to and leading on service development initiatives. Oxleas offers a wide range of NHS healthcare services to people living in South East London and Kent and to people in prison. Our services include community health care such as district nursing and speech and language therapy, care for people with learning disabilities and mental health care such as psychiatry, nursing and therapies. Our multidisciplinary teams look after people of all ages and we work in close partnership with other parts of the NHS, local councils and the voluntary sector and through our new provider collaboratives. Our 4,000 members of staff work in many different settings including hospitals, clinics, prisons, children's centres, schools and people's homes. We have over 125 sites in a variety of locations across the London Boroughs of Bexley, Bromley Greenwich and into Kent and manage hospital sites including Queen Mary's Hospital, Sidcup and Memorial Hospital in Woolwich as well as the Bracton Centre, our medium secure unit for people with mental health needs. Please note that Oxleas NHS Foundation Trust operate a probationary period. To work as an integral member of the MDT, including developing skills as a Safeguarding Adults Manager or attending relevant panels.
Occupational performance


- This may include promotion of the profession, managing referral systems, implementing directorate agreed pathways and using outcome measures to demonstrate the effectiveness of Occupational Therapy interventions.
Contribute to and carry out risk assessment & risk management plans


~ To provide clinical support and leadership for junior staff, and OT students on fieldwork placement
To contribute to the quality improvement and development of the Trust wide OT service
To adhere to Trusts requirements for management of violence training relevant to clinical area

Extensive clinical experience including individual and group work reflecting social inclusion


further post-graduate training + extensive relevant experience + evidence of CPD
