As a part of the Applus+ Laboratories group, Applus+ 3C Test Ltd is a visionary testing facility based at Silverstone Technology Park whose focus is testing to the many requirements of the international standards to support our customer base in the electromagnetic compatibility (EMC), vibration and environmental sectors.

We are currently recruiting for an ENVIRONMENTAL TESTING LAB SUPERVISOR . The role holder shall be responsible for project managing several tests as well as designing climatic and vibrations tests according to customer needs. Our lab offers altitude, salt corrosion, vibration & shock, climatic, electrical testing for high voltage components including batteries, and we are in a ramp up phase where opportunities for growth will be differential when compared to joining an established team

Main Duties:

  • Receive Kick-Off of testing projects from the Lab Manager & Sales
  • Liaison with customer representative for the resolution & alignment of technical questions
  • Design instrumentation required and control strategy for each test of the project, according to the 3C Test Technical Procedures and generally in accordance with the quality manual. All test work to meet or exceed that level of quality required by ISO17025 and audited by UKAS
  • Support and supervise ENV test engineers and technicians
  • Carry out tests set ups and test execution. (until ramp up phase is completed)
  • Report testing project status to the customer
  • Creation of test project reports and feed them to the Technical Manager for review
  • Support commissioning of new test equipment, calibration and manage suppliers
  • Monitor and identify correct operation of test equipment, cables, and report failures
  • Monitor needs for lab equipment and report to the Laboratory Supervisor for acquisition
  • Take immediate action and report any infringements in relation to Health and Safety
  • Work to 5S standards and showing a dynamic, proactive approach to work is key

Qualifications:

  • Engineering degree preferred, but HNC/HND / NVQ level 4 in Mechanical Engineering with relevant experience considered.
  • A clear and precise command of the English language or native speaker.

Experience:

  • Ideally a period of more than 3 years in test and measurement to national or European standards with electro-mechanical shakers
  • Experience in automotive or high voltage products. However, training can be offered
  • PC and associated software (especially Microsoft Word, Excel and Automated Test Software). Basic programming skills is a plus
  • The ability to accurately record test results and write test reports
  • 5S understanding and continuous improvement working attitude
  • Problem solving skills and the ability to distribute working load to a team.
  • Customer first attitude and skills to handle customer relations
  • Ability to be responsible of multiple projects.
