Within the Applus+ Laboratories division, Applus+ 3C Test Ltd operates as a pioneering testing facility located at Silverstone Technology Park. Our primary focus is on testing in accordance with international standards, catering to our clientele in the electromagnetic compatibility (EMC), vibration, and environmental sectors.

We are seeking an ENVIRONMENTAL TESTING LABORATORY SUPERVISOR. The individual in this role will oversee multiple testing projects and will be responsible for designing climatic and vibration tests tailored to client specifications. Our laboratory provides services such as altitude, salt corrosion, vibration & shock, climatic, and electrical testing for high voltage components, including batteries. This position offers unique growth opportunities compared to joining a more established team.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Initiate testing projects in collaboration with the Lab Manager and Sales team.
  • Engage with customer representatives to resolve technical inquiries and ensure alignment.
  • Design the necessary instrumentation and control strategies for each project test, adhering to the 3C Test Technical Procedures and the quality manual, ensuring compliance with ISO17025 standards as audited by UKAS.
  • Provide support and supervision to environmental test engineers and technicians.
  • Conduct test setups and execute tests until the ramp-up phase is completed.
  • Communicate project status updates to clients.
  • Generate test project reports and submit them to the Technical Manager for review.
  • Assist in the commissioning of new testing equipment, calibration, and supplier management.
  • Monitor the functionality of test equipment and cables, reporting any failures.
  • Identify laboratory equipment needs and communicate them to the Laboratory Supervisor for procurement.
  • Take immediate action and report any health and safety violations.
  • Adhere to 5S standards and maintain a proactive approach to work.

Qualifications:

  • Preferred: Engineering degree; however, HNC/HND/NVQ level 4 in Mechanical Engineering with relevant experience will be considered.
  • Proficient command of the English language or native speaker.

Experience:

  • Ideally, over 3 years of experience in testing and measurement to national or European standards using electro-mechanical shakers.
  • Experience with automotive or high voltage products is advantageous, though training can be provided.
  • Proficient in PC usage and associated software, particularly Microsoft Word, Excel, and Automated Test Software; basic programming skills are a plus.
  • Ability to accurately document test results and prepare test reports.
  • Understanding of 5S principles and a commitment to continuous improvement.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and the capability to delegate tasks within a team.
  • Customer-centric attitude with skills in managing client relationships.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
