As a part of the Applus+ Laboratories group, Applus+ 3C Test Ltd is a visionary testing facility based at Silverstone Technology Park whose focus is testing to the many requirements of the international standards to support our customer base in the electromagnetic compatibility (EMC), vibration and environmental sectors.
We are currently recruiting for an Night Shift Environmental Test Engineer. The role holder shall be responsible for test and measurement of automotive components and samples using equipment such as climatic chambers and data loggers for temperature and humidity, and electrodynamic shakers for shock and vibration.
Main Duties:
- Receive Kick-Off for testing project from Project manager / Lab supervisor
- Design instrumentation required and control strategy for each test of the project, according to the 3C Test Technical Procedures and generally in accordance with the quality manual. All test work to meet or exceed that level of quality required by ISO17025 and audited by UKAS.
- Report testing project status to the Project Manager / Lab supervisor. • Carry out tests set ups and test execution. (Test technician for support available)
- Creation of test project reports.
- Support commissioning of new test equipment and calibration.
- Monitor and identify correct operation of test equipment, cables, and report failures.
- Monitor needs for lab equipment and report to the Laboratory Supervisor for acquisition
- Take immediate action and report any infringements in relation to Health and Safety
- Work to 5S standards and showing a dynamic, proactive approach to work is key
Qualifications:
- HNC/HND or NVQ level 4 in Mechanical Engineering or an equivalent scientific/engineering qualification.
- Alternatively, a proven level of experience within the field of Environmental or Mechanical testing will be considered.
- A clear and precise command of the English language or native speaker.
Experience:
- Ideally a period of more than 1 year in test and measurement to national or European standards with electro-mechanical products. However, newly qualified graduates shall be given training until they are competent at performing tests unsupervised. Intensive training is provided in the working environment at 3C Test until this level of competence is demonstrated.
- Usable knowledge of the operation of PCs and associated software (especially Microsoft Word, Excel and Automated Test Software).
- The ability to accurately record test results and write test reports.
- Problem solving skills and the ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Ideally, experience of using engineering workshop equipment and machines where necessary to modify parts, test equipment and fixtures.
- Experience of mechanical design of test fixtures and manufacture.
