Role Overview:

As the Technical Manager, you will play a pivotal role in ensuring the safety, quality, legality, and authenticity of all products manufactured and sold by Sweetdreams Ltd. Reporting directly to the General Manager and working closely with the Factory Manager. You will lead the Technical, Quality, and Health & Safety (H&S) functions. Your leadership will be crucial in driving our commitment to high standards as we transition into our new facility.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Strategic Leadership: Develop and execute a robust technical strategy, including budgetary controls for the Technical, Quality, and H&S departments.
  • Audit and Compliance: Lead and manage all internal and external site visits and audits, ensuring continuous compliance with BRC accreditation and Global Food Safety Standards across manufacturing, packing, and warehousing.
  • Team Management: Oversee the daily operations of the Technical, Quality, and H&S teams, including performance management, appraisals, training, and succession planning.
  • Continuous Improvement: Champion a culture of 'audit readiness' and continuous improvement in product and process quality. Lead the implementation of a Total Quality Management approach across the organization.
  • HACCP & Compliance: Maintain ownership of the HACCP and Quality Management system and ensure compliance with the latest TACCP & VACCP requirements. Manage new recipe generation, including nutritional analysis, packaging, labelling, and product claims.
  • Supplier and Customer Relations: Act as the technical liaison with customers and suppliers, addressing technical queries, managing supplier performance, and mitigating product or supplier risks through technical improvement plans.

Requirements:

  • Proven experience in a similar technical management role within the food manufacturing industry. Experience in Chocolate and/or confectionery products would be an advantage but not essential.
  • Strong knowledge of BRC Global Standards, HACCP, TACCP, and VACCP.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead and inspire a team towards achieving high standards.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and a proactive approach to continuous improvement.
  • Effective communication skills, with the ability to engage with stakeholders at all levels.
