Our Early Careers (EC) programme team co-design and deliver our Graduate and Apprentice programmes, designed to capture FIL's values and behaviours, equipping our emerging talent with the essential skills to grow and develop their careers within FIL. With support from our business programme sponsors, our programmes are embedded in the business to ensure business priorities and programme activities are aligned. 

About your role
Reporting into the Global Head of Resourcing this role will partner closely with the EC Global TA lead and work across the three pillars of Early Careers Programme Management: Talent Management, Employee Experience and Data & Governance.

EC Global Programme Lead responsibilities:

Strategy development:

  • Work with CPO Executive Committee, key business stakeholders, and Early Careers Recruitment Lead to understand the strategic direction of the organisation from a talent and skills perspective. Refine and iterate the existing EC framework to meet the future needs of the business.
  • Encourage innovative and creative solutions to nurture, develop and mobilise our talent across the organisation, aligning with the broader Learning & Development and Functional Learning & Development teams. Drive a culture of continuous improvement, across a high-performing team.
  • Idenifty opportunities to further embed and support our Diversity and Inclusion, and Early Careers Community objectives to promote a strong, inclusive culture enriching the EC experience for graduates, apprentices and line managers alike.

Programme Management Process:

  • Ensure an efficient, consistent and business aligned programme management function is in place across all regions, with best practice adhered to during the entire 2--year programme life-cycle.
  • Pro-actively manage team KPI’s through retention (including alumni), engagement and performance metrics.
  • Budget & Global Vendor Management; identifying opportunities to cost save and/ or maximise investment, improving regional offering.
  • Direct programme management responsibilities for our Global Investment Management and Enterprise Development Programmes. Including:
    • Talent Management: Line management education & support, performance management (incl. PIP’s), rotation management, coaching/ mentoring support, year-end & conversion compensation planning.
    • Employee Experience: promote EC Community, CSR & Volunteering Events.
    • Data & Governance: Feel Heard Survey Management, Manager & HRBP engagement, KPI reporting.

Project Responsibilities :

  • Co-lead the Early Careers Strategy Review, in partnership with the EC TA Global Lead. The project presents an opportunity to partner with our business sponsors to identify essential skills & capability requirements, map these onto future roles, and create a simplified portfolio of entry points that enable our talent to nurture and grow, and our business areas to harness, retain and grow their talent. Supported by the Service Design team. (Q1 & Q2).
  • Post-programme role mapping, coordination & placement support for x64 Graduates & Apprentices (globally, combined). Coordinated across HRBP, TA and Finance teams. Closely aligned to the EC TA 2025 Demand Planning process. (Q2 & Q3). 

Project Oversight (delegated across the team):

  • EC Global Orientation (Sept), EC Year-End Compensation Planning (Aug - Dec), L&D Curriculum Management, Levy Gifting (Q4) & CSR Community Engagement strategy (ongoing).

Team Management:

  • Set the vision for the Early Careers programme team across the organisation. Team lead and line management responsibility for three direct reports (x2 Senior Managers and x1 Manager) - UK & Ireland based.
  • Conduct regular management team meetings, global calls and skip level meetings with all members of EC to ensure effective running of the function.
  • Manage, develop and motivate team members to achieve their objectives and full potential.
  • Mentor and develop individuals within the team to ensure long term individual growth and retention.

Stakeholder management & partnership:

  • Maintain strong relationships with our HRBP & Executive EC Sponsors, ensuring our Talent & Development offering is focused on the skills, behaviours and the evolving needs of the business. Translating high level business objectives into operational talent management solutions.
  • Provide hiring managers the tools and skills required to identify development opportunities, and sign-post internal resources enabling them to support this emerging talent cohort, globally.

About you

  • Ability to operate at both a strategic and operational level with the experience of driving projects and change agendas globally.
  • Strong strategic and tactical decision making skills enabling long term strategy deployment. Ability to approach challenges and emotive, complex situations with empathy and respect.
  • Strong motivational skills with previous experience leading a diverse, team inspiring members to work together around a common agenda in line with the strategic goals of the organisation; proven ability to foster an environment of commitment to exceeding quality and delivery standards through continuous improvement and innovation.
  • Ability to navigate and build strong relationships and credibility at all levels across regions and functions with proven skills at partnering with business stakeholders and senior CPO colleagues. Gains the confidence and trust of others through principled leadership, sound ethics, authenticity, and follow-through on commitments.
  • Proven ability to interact effectively with key stakeholders in the business, proactively managing the relationships with the ability to challenge expectations in a positive and constructive manner.
  • Excellent analytical skills with an ability to assess complex information to support others to make high impact decisions that set direction and strategy, whilst encouraging others to take informed risks.
