**The Team**:
We are looking for a Global Programme Lead to join the Schools team, within Education, on an indefinite (permanent basis).

**Job description**:
**The Role.**

The Global Programme Lead will:
Provide global leadership and management of the global Schools programme, Schools Connect, and the associated projects or sub-programmes, aligned to our Schools strategy.

Lead the design, development and delivery of programmes funded by British Council grant or co-funded by partners
Contribute to the financial sustainability of the British Council through attracting partnership funding and contract income to grow our global Schools portfolio.

Manage risk and assurance of compliance against a portfolio of Schools programmes and projects.

Lead and manage of large, dispersed teams, programme management teams and delivery partners. Own high-value relationships with the UK government and other partners on behalf of the organisation
Demonstrate sector expertise on behalf of the British Council and UK.

**Leadership & Management**:
Lead a direct team of UK-based staff within the Schools team and provide direction to colleagues around the world who are working on Schools Connect.

Foster an outcome focused, accountable environment where activities and plans are conducted in accordance with the British Council values and where equality, diversity and inclusion (EDI) is a strong element of the culture.

Provide SRO leadership for key Schools programmes and act as the point of escalation for project and programme managers running parts of our Schools Connect programme globally.

**Strategy & Planning**:
Contribute to and implement the global strategy for our work with schools and school systems.

Lead the delivery of Schools contribution to the global CE business plan including global financial and non-financial targets. Incorporate innovation in programme design and delivery to ensure that our KPIs are met.

Lead the implementation of the Schools global programme working in close partnership with the Regional and country teams delivering the programme.

**Business Development**

Contribute to diversifying income streams to deliver strategic priorities for the Schools portfolio in partnership with the Global Head for Schools, TVET & NFE and the Schools Senior Technical Adviser.

**Commercial and Financial Management.**
Support the positioning, pursuit and design of new Schools opportunities across all funding streams.

**Programme Management.**
Lead Schools Connect and associated partnership projects to meet agreed financial and non-financial targets and meet global/corporate standards for global and UK-led Schools programmes across all funding streams.

**Requirements of the role**:

- Leadership of large-scale programmes.
- Leadership of large, dispersed teams
- Applied knowledge of programme monitoring and evaluation, including developing theories of change
- Experience of growing external income in the international school education sector
- Extensive knowledge of the four UK schools’ systems and international education system reform
