W Talent are now partnering with a fast paced, recycling business located in Derby who are looking to hire a new Health, Safety and Environmental Manager (HSE Manager). This Monday to Friday, days based position will be located at the processing plant in Derby where you will be part of the senior management team. To apply for this new role, you will need to hold a General NEBOSH Certificate or higher with some form of Recycling, Manufacturing, or Heavy Industry background experience.
Located in Derby, East Midlands my client is a medium sized, recycling business with around 150 employees on site. The process is largely heavy process machinery with the operatives working across various shift patterns, with a twilight shift currently dedicated to maintenance operations.
The health and safety of all employees and contractors working on this site is of the utmost importance to the company, so the Health & Safety Manager will be expected to hold the highest standards and ensure everyone works within the safety procedures.
Your main responsibility will be to lead the Health, Safety and Environmental throughout the business, and provide advice to line managers and operations staff on any potential issues.
You will ensure that the company maintains, works, and complies with all health & safety standards to enable a safe working environment. Additionally, you will be responsible for managing all health, safety, and environmental management systems, ensuring legal compliance across the site. You will promote a culture of safety awareness and personal responsibility to improve business awareness and control.
Provide detailed competent advice and timely advice on Health & Safety issues.
To establish and chair Health & Safety committee meetings in line with statutory requirements.
Provide coaching and mentoring Health & Safety committee members and fellow managers.
Drafting and Implementation of all statutory Health & Safety systems, policies, and procedures.
Creating safe working environment for all employees, contractors, and visitors to site.
Continually review internal policies and practices to ensure they are up to date.
Ensuring information for the processing of complaints reporting system is achieved in a timely and accurate fashion.
Collection of weekly and monthly KPI information and delivery of information for month end reporting.
Training and development of staff members, including toolbox talks.
Lead in investigation of all Health & Safety incidents.
Liaise with local authorities for investigation and inspections.
Keep local management teams up to date with local legislation.
To apply for the HSE Manager position located in Derby you will need to hold a General NEBOSH Certificate or higher with some form of Recycling, Manufacturing, or Heavy Industry background experience.
Strong HSE leadership skills.
Strong safety law knowledge.
Excellent planning and organisational skills
Working knowledge of Microsoft packages, Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
As the successful HSE Manager you will earn a yearly salary of 45,000 to 55,000 per year, plus company benefits.
