Lignum Executive have been retained by a leading building products manufacture who require a Managing Director to join them on a permanent basis.

As the UK Director you will be responsible for coordinating the business and commercial strategy in your marketplace (Britain and Ireland).

A key aspect of the role is to oversee a commercial growth strategy for the UK business leveraging the broader current product range within these markets. Significant opportunity exists to increase sales and profitability outside of the core structural timber product range.

A key measure of success is the team’s ability to grow sales and profitability by driving specifications and demand for the product set via Architects, Developers, Builders and Investors.

The Director will you responsibility for guiding the senior management team by developing plans, goals, targets and metrics as well as coaching and mentoring. Building out the team as required to support growth.

Main Duties & Responsibilities :

  • Oversight for the UK business with wide ranging responsibilities including; full P&L ownership, all organisational matters, legal, health and safety, company secretarial duties, compliance etc.
  • Creating and leading a high performing sales and business development team through the development and execution of an effective sales strategy.
  • Ensuring appropriate resources are in place to support the commercial strategy – technical, marketing, logistics, customer service etc.
  • Challenge, guide, develop and coach team members to reach targets and continuously improve key skills.
  • Work with Finance on setting budgets / forecasts and monthly management performance reports as well as developing KPI’s and other team performance measurement criteria.
  • Take an active role in key customer relationships and assisting the team with larger enterprise deals.
  • Ensure sales team have a meaningful knowledge of the products and services offered along with the changing regulatory environment
  • Establish strong working relationships with key personnel across Europe to support the UK business.
  • Continually assess market and competitor activity.
  • Prepared to travel within and outside UK where needed.
