An excellent opportunity has arisen for a Toolroom Manager to join a well-established specialist manufacturer in the Witney area. With growth plans to scale their £100m turnover business to over £200m over the next 5 years, this role is a key component to ensure that their production and tooling engineering teams are ready to support expansion, but also to continue to deliver against manufacturing / targets and implement continuous and process improvement.

The Toolroom Manager will manage the Tooling team daily on best practice and establish standard policies and procedures. You will implement and manage continuous improvement and modern manufacturing principles by highlighting deficiencies and recommending changes in training, working practices and processes. You will be responsible for developing an enthusiastic, motivated and flexible team by building working relationships ensuring that Health, Safety and Environmental requirements are adhered to.

The successful Toolroom Manager will need the following experience and skills:

  • Must have experience of managing a team of Tool Setters with a background in plastic injection moulding.
  • Must have experience of process engineering and troubleshooting within an injection moulding environment.
  • Management experience in a tooling role and strong leadership skills.
  • Must have recognised qualifications in relevant subjects.
  • Interest in engineering, mechanical, programming and/or technical plastics.
  • Technical, practical and mathematical skills.
  • Effective communication skills.
  • Motivated individual who is flexible and willing to learn continuous/lean best practices.
  • Ability to demonstrate initiative, self-motivated and a positive attitude.
  • Excellent organisational, time management and attention to detail skills.
  • Comfortable working within a team environment, contributing and sharing best practices, resources and ideas in order to continually improve.
  • The ability to work to set standards and procedures.
  • Adept at making sound decisions quickly.
  • Creative approach to problem solving and solutions.
  • Actively contributes as a team player.
