Head of Financial Reporting and Compliance | Hospitality | Watford | Salaries up to £100,000.

Mat Cover – 15 months contract

I’m working with one of the UK's fastest-growing privately-owned Hospitality groups. Their vision is to create extraordinary experiences, positively impact lives, and continuously improve every day.

The Head of Financial Reporting and Compliance will lead the Financial Reporting, Tax, and Treasury functions across the different portfolios. Managing a team of three qualified accountants, the role includes overseeing the Group statutory accounts process, taxation, treasury management, and fixed assets management.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead Financial Reporting function, providing coaching, support and challenge to enable the development of three direct reports.
  • Statutory audits completed within 5 months of the year end, and all corporate tax and VAT compliance completed in a timely and accurate manner. Review and support in preparation of the year-end and audit processes.
  • Oversight of an accurate 12-month rolling cash flow forecast produced every week.
  • Review (and support in preparation where needed) accurate and timely reporting of management information to our external banks, along with bank covenant reporting.
  • Oversight of the internal Capex process and project spending for the various developments across the Group
  • Strong and trusting relationships were established with all key stakeholders, including the wider finance team, internal Heads of Department, HMRC, external auditors and tax advisors.
  • Identify opportunities for continuous improvement, effectively present ideas and turn them into practical actions. Lead initiatives on continuous improvement of Financial Reporting and support wider group goals and initiatives.
  • Responsible for balance sheet control ensuring 100% compliance of balance sheet reconciliations on a monthly basis.
  • Monitor and maintain compliance with internal controls.
  • Keep abreast of UK accounting and taxation legislation enabling the group to remain fully compliant in respective areas.

The ideal candidate:

  • Experience in a Big 4 Accountancy Firm is a must.
  • Strong Tax, Audit and Treasury background.
  • Strong technical accounting and taxation skills
  • Experience in successfully managing and leading a team.
  • Excellent communicator, building meaningful relationships with senior internal and external stakeholders.
  • Proactive self-starter with a positive approach to problem-solving.
  • Hospitality experience is advantageous.
  • Experience of operating in a similar role and in particular, leading transformational change.
  • A qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA or equivalent) is essential.
