Sheffield, United Kingdom Sheffield Children's Full time
Sheffield Children’s NHS Foundation Trust

Please note: We are recruiting for three roles within the service:

  • 1 x 0.9 WTE and 1 x 0.6 WTE Assistant Psychologists to work within our CAMHS Inpatient Service (12 month fixed term)
  • 1 x Full Time (37.5 hours, 18 month fixed term) Assistant Psychologist to work across our Safeguarding Support Unit (SSU) Psychology and our Parent-Infant Relationship Service (PAIRS) This role is split into 2 days working with SSU and 3 days working into PAIRS each week.

Our CAMHS inpatient services work with young people with serious and complex mental health issues across three lodges at the Becton Centre: Emerald (ages 8-13), Sapphire (ages 13-18) and Ruby Lodge (for young people with learning disabilities). Psychologists at Becton work within the MDT, delivering assessments, formulation and therapeutic interventions, alongside working with parents/carers and external professionals. Assistant Psychologists support clinical work on the Lodges alongside collecting outcome measures and supporting research, audit and service development.

Our Parent and Infant Relationship Service (PAIRS) and Safeguarding Support Unit (SSU) Psychology Services are two separate multidisciplinary Specialist Community CAMHS teams, sitting across two sites: Centenary House and the SCFT Acute Site. The SSU and PAIRS teams are at an exciting stage of development and require an Assistant Psychologist to work across both teams.

Main duties of the job

Our Assistant Psychologist roles include supporting the development of the service through research, audit, co-production and participation work and service evaluation.

There will be opportunities for professional experience through clinical work, under the supervision of a Senior Clinical Psychologist.

There will also be opportunities to link up and share knowledge with other Assistant Psychologists across the service.

The Assistant Psychologists for Becton would be expected to contribute to clinical work across the Lodges. The Assistant Psychologists will lead the implementation and further development of the use of routine outcome measures across the Lodges. Through this, the Assistant Psychologists will contribute to service evaluation and quality improvement processes.

PAIRS and SSU Specialist Community CAMHS Services:

The Assistant Psychologist will support service development and evaluation including developing the use of routine outcome measures; supporting neurodevelopmental assessment and supporting the Lead Psychologist(s) to scope out and develop future intervention offers with service user involvement alongside creating clinical resources for service users and the systems around them.
