We are seeking to recruit an experienced Assistant Psychologist to join our supportive and enthusiastic multi-disciplinary team.

This post is based at Forest Lodge a Low Secure Forensic inpatient unit. It has a 10 bedded assessment ward and 12 beds on the rehabilitation ward. The role involves direct work with service users and their families/carers providing psychological interventions for people with a range of complex mental health needs who are experiencing difficulties which require an inpatient intervention.

To show a positive and respectful attitude towards people with complex mental health problems, their families and staff carers at all times.

To contribute to the development and maintenance of the highest professional standards of practice, through active participation in internal and external CPD training and development programmes, in consultation with the post holder’s professional and team/operational manager(s).

To maintain the highest standards of clinical record keeping and report writing in accordance with professional codes of practice and Trust policies and procedures.

To prepare test materials, handouts, flyers and visual or teaching aids as required.

To undertake specific administrative duties as required.

To perform other duties of a similar kind appropriate to the grade, which may be required from time to time by their Psychology Manager and agreed to by the Professional Lead Clinical Psychologist.

**Clinical**:
To be required to work on a frequent basis with service users who present with severe and complex mental health problems including treatment resistant psychosis.

To undertake, write up and analyse psychological assessments of clients, including, self-report measures, rating scales, direct and indirect structured observations and semi-structured interviews with clients, family members and others involved in the client’s care under the management of the Clinical Psychologist.

To assist in the formulation and delivery of care plans involving the psychological treatment and/or management of a client’s problems, under the management of the Clinical Psychologist.

To assist in the coordination and running of therapeutic groups on the ward with other members of the multi-disciplinary team.

To work effectively as a member of the multi-disciplinary team; to attend and contribute to appropriate multi-disciplinary and care plan meetings.

To work with other colleagues in the team to assess service users and review their care in preparation for multi-disciplinary reviews, including review of previous assessments, interventions and case notes, analysis of numerical data from questionnaires, interviews and activity/behaviour monitoring.

To assist in the development of a psychologically based framework of understanding and care to the benefit of all service users on the Ward.
