The James Paget University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust is seeking to appoint a Clinical Fellow in Dermatology. The post is to reflect the needs of the Dermatology Department and to support the Medical, Nursing and Management Team to meet service needs. The successful candidate will be responsible, in collaboration with consultants and senior trainees, in the management of patients in the Dermatology department. It is expected, according to identified training needs, the successful candidate will be encouraged to develop skills and experiences according to the current curriculum. Attendance at local, regional, and national training courses, with study leave granted in accordance with national Terms and Conditions of Service for Hospital Medical and Dental Staff (England and Wales).
# Continuation of an applicant’s existing research, involvement in current departmental research, and development of new projects.
# Observation of the Trust’s agreed policies and procedures on clinical matters and compliance with Regional and Trust Health and Safety policies.
# The Department of Dermatology is an integrated outpatient/day patient department. The department has three specifically designated and designed dermatological surgery units, including extracted ventilation systems suitable for minor operations and ‘see and treat’ clinics. The successful candidate will have access to a shared office with their own desk and personal computer.
This is a fixed term post for one year in the first instance. Providing care for patients working with the Dermatology department.
# Assisting in Out Patient Clinics and Dermatology Surgery lists under the supervision of the Consultant Dermatologists.
# Conducting 8 clinical sessions per week and 2 sessions per week for administration, ward referrals, ward rounds, audit, and attendance at regional meetings as part of continuing medical education.
# Participation in undergraduate and postgraduate student education and teaching.
# Responding to Ward referrals under the supervision of a Consultant.
# At least 2 years post registration mostly in Medicine
Ability to work without direct supervision
Dermatology clinical experience
Dermatology surgery experience
Experience of committee work/project management
Academic Achievements
Familiar with the principles of Risk Management
Involvement in research projects and published papers
Experience in teaching junior medical staff
Commitment to continuing professional development
Experience in teaching Medical Students
Formal training in teaching skills
