We have been bringing innovation to the market since inception – from launching the first independent global VIP lounge access Programme, Priority Pass to being the first to sell direct travel insurance in the UK through Columbus Direct and creating the first loyalty agency of its kind in the travel sector with ICLP. As the Director of Software Engineering, you will play a pivotal role in nurturing our people-centric culture while managing a global team of engineering professionals across various levels and disciplines. This role is not just about leading engineering projects; it’s about being a strategic visionary focused on future tech stack innovations and fostering a collaborative environment.
You will be the bridge between our product and engineering teams, ensuring seamless communication and alignment. Your strategic insight will guide the development of our tech stack and drive the adoption of innovative technologies to maximize productivity and support our company’s growth.
Oversee front-end and back-end development teams and their projects
Define all aspects of development from appropriate technology and workflow to coding standards
Design strategies for future development projects based on the company’s overall objectives and resources
Drive the adoption and integration of innovative technologies to enhance engineering processes and product development
Review and update policies relevant to internal systems and equipment
Provide technical guidance and coaching to developers and engineers. Drive adoption of continuous integration and automation, improving engineering experience, speed to market and speed of innovation
Ensure software meets all requirements of quality, security, modifiability, extensibility etc.
Work experience as an Engineering Director or in a similar senior-level position within an engineering department
Extensive experience with cloud technologies and modern human-computer interfaces
Hands-on experience in back-end and front-end development and modern languages
Good understanding of agile methodologies
Proven experience as software architect/design engineer
Experience in software development and coding in various languages
Excellent knowledge of software and application design and architecture, including design patterns
Experience in software quality assurance and continuous integration implementation
High quality organizational and leadership skills
