In this role, you will provide vital design input during both the pre-construction and onsite phases, working closely with the Project Delivery teams to ensure successful project execution. Key Requirements
- Construction Principles Knowledge: You should have a good understanding of the principles of construction, along with experience working within project teams.
- Communication & Interpersonal Skills: Strong interpersonal and communication skills are essential for forming effective working relationships with partners, contractors, and internal teams, especially under tight project deadlines.
- IT Proficiency: Proficiency in Microsoft Office is required. Familiarity with CAD and other relevant design software is highly desirable but not mandatory.
- Learning Mindset: A strong willingness to learn and grow in the role is essential, with a proactive approach to continuously developing your knowledge and skills.
- Organisation: You must be highly organised, with the ability to manage multiple interfaces and maintain calm under pressure, ensuring smooth operations.
- Time Management: A structured, systematic approach to work with the ability to manage time effectively to meet deadlines and support project objectives.
- Design Development: Assisting in the development, review, and implementation of design proposals to ensure they align with customer/employer specifications. You will need to be conscious of project constraints, including time, budget, and the project’s overarching objectives.
- Digital Protocols and BIM: Supporting the implementation of TD digital protocols and any client Building Information Modelling (BIM) deliverables, ensuring that the design complies with digital workflows and meets modern data-sharing and collaboration standards.
- Design Responsibilities Matrix: Monitoring and ensuring responsibilities for the project are clearly allocated as per the design responsibilities matrix, ensuring all aspects of the design process are fully accounted for and executed.
- Team Coordination: Assisting in the effective management of the entire Design Team, including the integration of Mechanical & Electrical (M&E) components, and coordinating third-party or novated design teams when necessary. You will also need to ensure all external teams meet customer specifications, reviewing their competence and resources as needed.
- Collaborative Design Input: Facilitating forums and processes that engage the commercial and operational teams throughout the design stages, ensuring their input is considered, and fostering a collaborative design process.
- Design Quality Assurance: Conducting initial reviews and quality assurance (QA) checks on received designs, helping ensure high standards in design quality and compliance with all regulatory requirements.
- Document Approval: Assisting with the record approval processes, ensuring all design documentation is accurate, comprehensive, and delivered within the required timeframes.
- Programme Management: Assisting in the management and coordination of the design deliverables programme, making sure all design outputs are delivered on time and integrated with the overall project plan.
- Meeting Facilitation: Helping facilitate and manage key design-related meetings, including design review sessions, project updates, and coordination discussions to track progress and resolve any issues.
- Sustainability: Being aware of and assisting in managing sustainability deliverables for the project, ensuring that sustainability targets (both internal and external) are met or exceeded.
- Document Control: Liaising with project document control teams and supporting the management of project documentation to maintain an organised and efficient information flow.
