Job Overview We are seeking a dynamic and energetic Transport Planning manager to head up our existing planning teams across our various sites.
Reporting to the General manager and working alongside the Customers Services Manager and our Fleet Manager you will be responsible for managing the day-to-day interactions within the transport team, ensuring complete customer satisfaction throughout the transport function whilst maximising vehicle utilisation and efficiency.
The successful candidate will be expected to split their time between our Head Office in Dromore and our Depot in Culcavy.
Duties The Transport Planning Manger will: Maintain overall responsibility for all transport planning functions Oversee and manage the planning teams across four traffic areas and 2 locations Drive change initiatives through the logistics organisation and liaise with relevant stakeholders to ensure successful delivery of projects.
Maintain, develop and implement transport strategies and policies to optimize vehicle utilisation and reduce costs Support the Commercial team and fleet manager with capacity planning requirements based on forecasting data and operational planning schedules Assist Customer Services team to manage customer queries and keep them informed & updated of all changes Build and maintain strong relationships with customers Ensure that the department communicates efficiently with sales teams regarding delivery schedules etc.
giving the customer the best level of service we can Collaborate with warehousing departments to coordinate transportation needs and ensure timely delivery of goods Ensure planning team maintain live Traffic Management System Ensure all job information on TMS is completed accurately for completion of KPI reports.
Ensure all drivers brief and de-brief completed daily with POD status completed Ensure shipping routes planned efficiently Monitor Vehicle movements to reduce delay and inefficiencies Ensure Fleet Manager is informed of RTAs or any vehicle maintenance issues that may arise Participate in weekly and monthly management meetings and produce reports for same Please note that this job description is not designed to cover or contain a full comprehensive listing of activities, duties and responsibilities.
Essential Criteria Minimum of 5 years experience in road haulage or transport planning, managing a team.
