Transport Operations Manager

Mulgrew Haulage Limited is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Transport Planning Manager to join our team. As a key member of our management team, you will be responsible for overseeing the planning and coordination of our transportation operations across multiple sites.
Key Responsibilities:- Manage the planning teams across four traffic areas and two locations, ensuring seamless coordination and efficient operations.
- Develop and implement transport strategies and policies to optimize vehicle utilization and reduce costs.
- Collaborate with the Commercial team and Fleet Manager to ensure capacity planning requirements are met, based on forecasting data and operational planning schedules.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with customers, ensuring their needs are met and exceeded.
- Ensure the department communicates efficiently with sales teams regarding delivery schedules and other customer-related matters.
- Coordinate transportation needs with the Warehousing department to ensure timely delivery of goods.
- Monitor vehicle movements to reduce delay and inefficiencies, and ensure the Fleet Manager is informed of any issues that may arise.
- Participate in weekly and monthly management meetings, and produce reports for same.
- Minimum of 5 years' experience in road haulage or transport planning, managing a team.
- Self-motivated team player with hands-on approach and excellent communication skills.
- Commercially astute with a positive and customer-focused attitude.
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
- Excellent geographic knowledge of the UK and Ireland.
- Ability to analyze data and make informed decisions.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and TMS knowledge.
