Structural Engineer

Sunderland Tyne and Wear, United Kingdom PACC Full time

The Engineer is expected to support the Engineering Line Manager and is responsible for handling projects within own level of authority and providing training and guidance to supporting team members.

Responsibilities:

  • Undertaking of technical and feasibility studies including organising site investigations
  • To use a range of software to develop detailed structural designs as well as hand calculations
  • Liaise with clients and a variety of professionals including contractors and architects
  • Preparation of contract documents, management of tenders
  • Resolving design and development problems
  • Management of budget and project resources
  • Ensuring that all projects comply with legal requirements including CDM2015, Party wall, Listed buildings
  • Assessment of sustainability and environmental impact of projects
  • Contribute to the company’s marketing objectives, targets and initiatives
  • Assisting director with training and development of the engineering team
  • Inspection / Supervision of construction work on site under contract, preparation of interim and final accounts, claim and practical completion
  • At all times to comply with the requirements of the Company’s administrative, personnel procedures and Health & Safety regulations

The person:

Qualifications - Experience Structural Engineering Mend (Hons)

Experience:

  • Extensive working knowledge of consulting engineering, surveying, architectural & planning practices and procedures supported by an awareness of the latest statutory requirements, technical publications and guidelines
  • Experience in negotiation, supervisory and leadership roles
  • Experience in working to deadlines and within budgets on large scale projects

Qualities and Skills:

  • Sound mathematical, scientific and IT skills
  • The ability to think methodically and to manage projects
  • Problem-solving skills
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Knowledge of relevant legislation
