The Pre-production Coordinator's purpose is to facilitate the processing of incoming artwork for Card Production orders. They will also help in collecting costs from vendors to enable quoting and buying decisions


Responsibilities:

Enables a smooth, well-coordinated flow of design work to vendors so they can fulfill card orders without wasted time; incoming artwork files must be downloaded, pre-flighted (assessed for quality control) and posted to the appropriate vendor.

  • Art files will be managed such that all stakeholders of a card job have access and visibility to card images as needed.
  • Gather data in regard to cost and preparation of quotes.
  • Verify technical specifications and interface with the card vendor to reconcile any differences.
  • Update art files and specifications into Visual job management system.
  • Will be a resource to Production Managers for all graphic matters.


There will be occasions for on-site visits to vendors to oversee press checks.


Qualifications:

  • Two-year college degree: Bachelor’s degree preferred or equivalent work experience in print-related business using graphic design packages and working with product costing, quotes, profit margins, etc.; hands on knowledge of printing, plate making, etc. is preferred
  • Must have knowledge of Mac and PC operating systems, Adobe Creative Suite, QuarkXPress and other graphic design packages.
  • Must be able to articulate artwork requirements and capabilities to internal staff, clients, and vendors in a precise, professional manner.
  • Ability to multitask between estimating, scheduling and creative design throughout the day as well as lead/participate in team meetings as needed.
  • Creatively consult with clients to offer suggestions in an effort to create a more interesting card while working within their budgetary constraints.
  • Must have knowledge of the terms and vocabulary used in a commercial print facility and in-depth knowledge of commercial print technologies and capabilities.
