Our client is a market leader in equipment rental and engineering services, supporting clients across the UK. The business is successful and well-stablished with a best-in-class track record for customer service.


This is an exciting time for the business which is committed to maintaining its leadership position in the industry, with ambitious growth plans to almost double in size over the next 3-5 years. As part of those growth plans, the business is now looking to recruit a new Head of Sales who will be responsible for transforming their sales function to drive business growth and enhance profitability.


THE ROLE - SALES DIRECTOR


The company has ambitious plans to double in size over the next 3-5 years, while also looking at opportunities to expand into new markets. Due to these growth plans the senior leadership team have identified a need to recruit an experienced sales leader who will be responsible for developing and delivering the growth strategy, in line with business objectives.


Key Responsibilities


  • Develop and execute a comprehensive sales strategy in order to profitably grow the business to £50million+ over the next 3-5 years


  • Lead the transformation of the sales function, aligning the team, processes, and systems with the company’s ambitious growth targets.


  • Identify new market opportunities while expanding the company's market share in existing segments. Work closely with senior leadership to align sales objectives with business goals and ensure cross-functional collaboration.


  • Create annual sales plans, forecasting, budgeting, and reporting to ensure business objectives are met.


  • Build, lead, mentor, and inspire a high-performing sales team, fostering a culture of accountability, continuous improvement, and customer-centricity.


  • Establish and maintain relationships with key clients, stakeholders, suppliers and industry partners.


  • Take lead in negotiating major deals, overseeing pricing strategies, sales forecasting, customer acquisition, and retention.


  • Actively monitor market trends, competitor activities, and customer demands to anticipate opportunities and challenges.



Skills and Competencies Required


  • Degree educated


  • Strong commercial background in relevant field


  • 5-10 years sales leadership experience within a comparably sized engineered products and services business.


  • Strong commercial leader with P&L experience, with demonstrable track record of growing and developing businesses


  • Experience of identifying, negotiating and securing high value contracts


  • A charismatic leader who clearly demonstrates an ability to empower and motivate a team


  • Exceptional skills in communication, motivation, and interpersonal relations, and able to convey a message that is understandable and relevant, linking business issues, financial results and strategy


  • ‘Hands on’ operator with evidence of strong leadership and personal authority, as well as communication and people management skills.
