Job Description

L&G has recently implemented a tier model, and the ER and Restructuring team is the centre of excellence for the business. In this role you will ensure that the organisation is implementing the policies and frameworks defined by the Group Head of Policies and Group Head of Legal.

You’ll bring an external perspective and thought leadership on ER policy implementation into the business, ensuring that the organisation is proactive, maintaining or pushing ahead of trends and delivering ER that is attuned to the needs of the workforce.

Reporting into the HR COO, your focus in role will be on managing and restructuring individual employee relations matters such as grievances, long term absence, disciplinary actions, terminations, etc. This is a relatively new role and team within the business, requiring extensive prior experience in managing teams and projects.

What you'll be doing:

1. Provide leadership, performance management, and guidance to the ER and restructuring team.

2. Ensuring that the ER team are seen as experts in disciplinary actions, terminations, and other performance-related matters, ensuring adherence to company policies and employment laws.

3. Establish key metrics to measure the effectiveness of the ER team and provide regular reports to COO and HR Directors on trends and areas for improvement and focus.

4. Evolve and embed L&G’s approach to managing ER cases across the Group, so that there is appropriate risk-based approach in place and that decisions are within risk appetite.

5. Collaborate with HR and management teams to ensure that ER cases are managed to ensure a consistent, fair process and promote employee’s wellbeing.

6. Provide advice and guidance to HR and business leaders on all aspects of employee relations issues, so that they can effectively develop and apply suitable solutions to resolve business and employee issues.

7. Identify employee relations training needs and facilitate workshops or training sessions to ensure that the ER team has the necessary skills, knowledge, and behaviours to deliver the best service to the Group.

Qualifications

What we're looking for:

• Extensive prior experience in Head of ER roles within large and complex organisations.

• Extensive experience in team and project management, to include building teams and restructuring within ER.

• Great energy, with a focus on the art of what is possible.

• Autonomous with a pragmatic approach to sensitive matters.

• A background within Employment Law would be highly advantageous.
