JOB PURPOSE
As the Head of Business Development, you will be the key driver behind the Business Development team; Responsible for managing, coaching, motivating, and supporting the ongoing development of the team, driving them to achieve and exceed set business sales targets and KPIs. You will maintain excellent levels of customer satisfaction for new customers and promote the full portfolio of Welcomm services to new leads, winning new business, driving Welcomm's growth and leading by example for all team members. Thus, ensuring the department generates a sustainable pipeline of new business leads to support business growth, in line with company goals.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Managing the Business Development team, including being responsible for their recruitment, training facilitation, ongoing development, and retention.
- Achieving revenue and gross profit sales targets for the BD department and team.
- Responsible for achieving KPIs; including number of appointments, number of outbound and effective calls made, number of appointments and installations delivered for the Business Development team.
- Ensuring the department generates a sustainable pipeline of new business leads to support business growth, in line with company goals.
- Responsible to ensure all new business opportunities are being followed up and are equally distributed in terms of size and value, to the team.
- Leading by example and generating own leads by calling, booking, and sitting appointments, helping team to build prospective pipeline, while also managing incoming revenue for BD team
- Canvassing new business from current customer database, oversee the management of new accounts acquired for 1 year before handing them over to Account Management team
- Attending networking events and follow up on leads generated from those.
- Oversee customer meetings sat by the BD team to help support and coach best practice.
- In partnership with Operations Team, be responsible for monitoring team activity in terms of reporting. Address any performance issues swiftly and in accordance with company policy.
- Keeping the CRM system up to date and ensuring data is accurate; running and analysing reports against the portfolio as required.
- Meet with CEO to provide department results and highlight any issues, an recommend processes updates, and strategic improvements.
- Collaborating effectively across all teams to ensure we deliver a seamless experience for all customers.
- Keep up to date with the latest market insight, providing feedback to the wider team as appropriate.
- Work with team member on customer quality MQM and CQM reviews, sharing results and advice for best performance.
- Identify training and development needs for each team member, creating personalised and realistic PDPs. Ensuring subsequent monitoring and progression.
- Act as a culture ambassador and embracing the company values at all times.
ABOUT YOU
Essential:
- You have significant expertise in successfully managing, building, and coaching high-performing teams in a KPI-driven sales environment.
- You have a passion for sales, a strong customer focus, and are a quick learner capable of adapting to new technologies and identifying market opportunities.
- You demonstrate the ability to establish and earn trust from team members showing genuine concern and care for their success, actively listening to their needs, and proposing beneficial solutions.
- You have proven experience as a senior business development professional ideally within a B2B environment.
- You have previous experience in contract negotiation.
- You are a confident and influential communicator who excels in working collaboratively and partnering with all areas of the business.
- You hold a full, clean UK driving licence and are capable of travelling, with the flexibility to attend in-person appointments and meetings.
Desirable:
- It would be an added bonus if you had experience of the IT, fixed line or mobile industry and knowledge of working within a growing business.
