Programme Director - Farm Environment Data Support | Delivery Focused
We are seeking an experienced and highly motivated Programme Director to lead the development of an industry-led solution for farm-level environmental data management. The successful candidate will work closely with various agricultural stakeholders to ensure efficient and coherent data custodianship that benefits farmers and the broader agricultural community.
Key Responsibilities
- Business Case Development: Lead the delivery of a comprehensive business case for an environment Data Custodian.
- Technical and Strategic Leadership: Provide expertise and leadership on environmental data to internal teams and partner organizations.
- Stakeholder Engagement: Build and manage relationships with key industry stakeholders, ensuring successful delivery of the Data Custodian project.
- System Design and Development: Collaborate with the Digital, Data, and Technology Director to scope customer needs and design the Data Custodian system.
- Representation: Represent the organization at industry events, government discussions, and with farming unions, promoting our work on environmental sustainability.
- Knowledge Sharing: Enhance the knowledge base of internal teams on environmental and agricultural data.
- Communication Support: Work with the communications team to effectively present the organization's initiatives in environmental data management.
Essential Qualifications
- Technical Expertise: Strong understanding of the practical requirements for managing environmental data in the agricultural sector.
- Industry Relationships: Established relationships and connections within UK, European, and international environmental data and carbon-footprinting communities.
- Credibility in Agriculture: High level of credibility and experience within the UK agricultural sector.
- Data Management Skills: Proficiency in managing data-sharing relationships and developing data-exchange functionality, such as APIs.
- Carbon Accounting Knowledge: In-depth knowledge of farm carbon accounting, greenhouse gas emissions, and sequestration data.
- Project Management: Experience in guiding projects from inception through to successful delivery.
Deliverables
- Develop the design and business plan for the Data Custodian.
- Establish partnerships to build consensus around the Data Custodian project.
- Improve the knowledge base of senior and project teams regarding environmental and agricultural data.
- Contribute to initiatives like the Food Data Transparency Partnership on environmental data.
- Provide regular updates and summaries of stakeholder engagements.
Location and Commitment
- Location: Remote work with occasional travel for in-person meetings and events.
- Commitment: Flexible, with options for part-time (2 days a week) or Full time engagement.
