Job Title: Senior Credit Analyst/Manager

Location: Mayfair, London

Our client, a leading player in the financial services sector, is seeking a Senior Credit Analyst/Manager to join their EMEA team.

This is a fantastic opportunity to work with a global firm known for its robust approach to risk management, dynamic environment, and commitment to developing its people. As a key leader within their credit risk function, you will take ownership of counterparty risk monitoring, lead a team of analysts, and play a critical role in shaping credit decisions across the firm.

The Role:

As the Senior Credit Analyst/Manager, you will be responsible for overseeing all aspects of counterparty risk across the EMEA client base. Working closely with other regional leaders, you will ensure a thorough understanding of risk exposures and enforce appropriate limits. This role offers significant leadership responsibilities, including guiding and mentoring analysts and stepping in for the Global Head of Credit when required.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Counterparty Risk Management: Lead the analysis of existing and prospective counterparties, including corporates, financial institutions, individuals, and state-owned enterprises.
  • Market Insights: Maintain a continual focus on global and regional economic trends, assessing how these impact the credit risk landscape.
  • Leadership: Manage the EMEA counterparty risk team, supporting the development of junior staff and ensuring effective collaboration with global counterparts.
  • Credit Recommendations: Produce well-researched recommendations for new and existing credit facilities, presenting to senior management and executive committees.
  • Integration Projects: Take the lead on credit integration for new acquisitions, ensuring a seamless process from a credit risk perspective.
  • Client Interaction: Engage with clients on both a domestic and international level, providing expert guidance on credit-related matters and managing the credit application and review process.
  • Reporting & Communication: Prepare detailed management reports and ensure that key issues are communicated and escalated appropriately to senior leadership.
  • Policy Development: Contribute to the ongoing enhancement of credit risk policies, procedures, and processes to ensure best practice and compliance.

Skills & Experience Required:

  • Analytical Expertise: Extensive experience in financial statement analysis, ideally within investment banking, corporate finance, or institutional brokerage.
  • Risk Assessment: Proven track record of forming well-researched credit assessments, including internal credit ratings and recovery analysis.
  • Leadership Skills: Demonstrable experience in leading teams, mentoring junior staff, and contributing to a positive work environment.
  • Communication: Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to engage confidently with stakeholders at all levels.
  • Strategic Insight: A strategic thinker with the ability to anticipate future challenges and adapt to evolving market conditions.
  • Industry Knowledge: Familiarity with managing credit risks in financial products, particularly within commodities, is highly valued.
  • Education & Tools: Relevant academic qualifications or equivalent professional experience, proficiency in MS Office and Bloomberg; additional language skills are desirable.
