We are currently seeking individuals who possess advanced skills in project management and automation rollout within warehouse or distribution environments. The ideal candidates will have a proven track record of successfully implementing automation solutions, optimizing warehouse operations, and managing complex projects.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Directly manage designated elements of new distribution center automation projects.
  • Projects include new distribution center design and build, site conversions, building fit-out, automation installation, systems implementations, IT system development, testing, training, and operations transition.
  • Act as the custodian of the project plan, ensuring tasks align with the plan by building relationships with suppliers and work stream leads to lead and support a delivery-focused team.
  • Build comprehensive plans for projects, consolidating plans from work stream leads of Build, Automation, IT Infrastructure, IT Systems, Operations, Testing, and Cutover. Identify dependencies, successors, and predecessors, and create those links within the project plan.
  • Collaborate with automation providers, building contractors, IT development teams, operations teams, and testing teams to establish optimal project plans and installation sequences. Coordinate and synchronise all parties.
  • Arrange and hold weekly project plan updates with each work stream lead, updating the consolidated project plan accordingly.
  • Monitor project task completion, ensuring progress aligns with the plan and making necessary adjustments.
  • Support the Lead Project Manager in establishing, monitoring, and delivering business case objectives and KPIs.
  • Ensure projects adhere to the highest health and safety standards and comply with local legislation.
  • Work closely with operational teams to capture operational requirements within the business needs.
  • Support operations and other teams in transitioning from project to normal business, including developing transition and cutover plans.
  • Undertake ad hoc analytical tasks as requested by the Lead Project Manager, including process reviews and process designs.
  • Take full responsibility for specific work packages on development-owned projects to develop experience, competence, and credibility.
  • Deputise for the Senior Project Manager as required.


Ideal Candidate:

  • Proven project management experience in a similar role, particularly in large-scale automated distribution center implementation.
  • A highly experienced and effective project manager with a demonstrable track record of performance and achievement on large-scale projects, both domestically and internationally.
  • Pragmatic, practical, and results-driven, capable of delivering amidst varied and frequent challenges.
  • Experienced in an appropriate project management methodology and proficient with Microsoft Project planning tools.
  • Strong end-to-end supply chain awareness and understanding with a solid grounding in supply chain operations.
  • Self-motivated, focused, and results-oriented, able to operate in a high-pressure, fast-paced environment, consistently delivering results and achieving corporate objectives on time and within agreed parameters.


Core Skills:

  • Appropriate project management qualification.
  • Minimum of 5 years of project management experience in supply chain and logistics.
  • Project team management skills.
  • Excellent organisational, prioritisation, and time management skills.
  • Proficient user of MS Project, able to generate Critical Path, Resource Usage, and Task tracking.
  • Cultural awareness and sensitivity.
  • Excellent problem-solving, strategic thinking, and planning skills.
  • Demonstrable interpersonal skills in a matrix environment.
  • Experience working in a fast-paced supply chain environment.
  • Willingness to work away for long periods, potentially involving substantial international travel.
  • Strong administrative skills.
