The Senior Manager, Human Resources will work with employees, managers and senior leaders and their departments to lead HR initiatives focused on achieving business results. This position will be responsible for a broad range of areas, including talent management, employee relations, leadership development, benefits and other HR initiatives and programs. This is an office-based role.

Essential Functions:

  • To develop and implement programmes to enhance the effectiveness with which the business functions and responds to change.
  • To support and coach management in the development of their people through the performance management system and through personal development plans.
  • To develop and implement HR Policy and procedures to meeting corporate directives, UK legislation and wherever appropriate, elements of best practice as required by the QMS.
  • In conjunction with line managers, assess employee training and development requirements against business needs. Create and deliver programmes to best meet the needs identified.
  • To develop and maintain a system of people processes (Performance Management, Position Descriptions, Recruitment & Selection, Reward etc) that attracts and retains the best people within our budget constraints and is aligned with the rest of the company.
  • To define the parameters and advise managers and employees on employee relationships. (This includes areas of coaching, mediation, engagement disciplinary management and conflict management).
  • To develop and report on metrics that reflect the performance requirements of the HR function.
  • To work collaboratively with Corporate HR, Business Unit HR and Sales Management to establish consistency of approach across the organisation.
  • To develop and maintain all compensation and benefits for all NS Europe employees, establishing consistency and compliance in each location, provide benchmarking data where appropriate.
  • To work effectively with other senior managers to maintain an efficient and cohesive working relationship on the site and ensure relevant information is transmitted effectively to help grow the business profitably.
  • To define and maintain an appropriate confidential recording and reporting system, ensuring timely, accurate and meaningful information for managers that comply with legislative and regulatory requirements.
  • To be financially accountable for HR programmes and processes: recognition, recruitment, development etc.
  • Manage Occupational Health activities, providing guidance on legal requirements, measuring performance and advising managers on actions and outcomes.


Additional Responsibilities:

  • To lead and develop both your team, and the individuals within the team, through coaching, mentoring, leadership and communication skills, utilising effective Position Descriptions, active Performance Management and documented Training Plans.
  • To operate as part of the site leadership team, performing to the highest ethical standards, conducting business with integrity and promoting a culture of honesty, fairness and legal compliance.
  • Facilitate Compliance committee.


Education, Knowledge, Skills, Training, and Experience:


Education

  • Degree in an administrative, Human Resource or business discipline.
  • Chartered Fellow or Graduate CIPD.
  • Qualified in psychometric profiling, Belbin or similar would be an advantage.


Experience

  • Operating in a fast-paced manufacturing (unionised) environment to challenging deadlines.
  • Experience in talent management, employee relations and employee benefit programmes.
  • Strong business acumen and experience working with leadership teams.
  • Working within an International, matrixed organisation.
  • Familiar with ISO standards and audit processes.
  • Familiar with business compliance (GDPR, Modern Slavery, Gender pay gap, etc.).
  • UK and European payroll and benefits (including payroll management, pensions, car fleet etc.).


Skills

  • Standard of oral and written communication skills, capable of conveying complex concepts and strategies in a clear and meaningful way.
  • Delivery of projects through effective organisational and planning skills.
  • Good understanding of UK employment law (European Employment law an advantage).
  • Brings innovation to solving problems.
  • Can demonstrate the ability to prioritise, multitask whilst retaining attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Self-motivated and flexible and adaptable to the situation.
  • Strong IT skills (MS Office, Teams, HRIS - Mitrefinch).
  • Strong profile and an effective driver throughout the organisation.
  • Can constructively confront peers and superiors where behaviours/attitudes are not in keeping with the desired culture.
  • Can demonstrate improvements in costs and cost reduction processes.


Travel:

There will be regular travel involved in this role – 10%.
