We are looking for an experienced, capable, and engaging colleague to lead the delivery of business planning across key departments within L&Q.

Our Business Planning Partners play a critical role in bringing L&Qs vision to life. Our Business Plans are the home of the activity to deliver our Future Shape Corporate Strategy, with its priorities to deliver safe, decent homes allied to reliable, consistent customer will report to the Head of Business Planning within the Governance and Transformation Directorate, and work closely with other senior leaders across L&Q to deliver high quality, consistent business planning for the organisation.

This opportunity has arisen at an exciting time, with the successful candidate tasked with building the strategic plan to underpin L&Qs next Corporate Strategy.Youwill join an agile, high-performing and values-driven team at the heart of L&Qs programme of change to set L&Q up for success over the long term.

The successful candidate will be a natural collaborator, with a strong track record of C-Suite influence and engagement to develop credible business plans. We need someone who is able to speak truth to power, make the complex simple and focus on getting things done.

You will be responsible for:

  • Building annual Business Plans for the organisation, aligned to our current Future Shape Corporate Strategy and the annual financial plan.
  • Building five-year Business Plans, aligning these to the emerging post-2026 Corporate Strategy and the five-year financial plan.
  • Maturing and delivering our business planning approach in collaboration with business functions across L&Q Group.
  • Maturing and delivering the Business Performance Framework, supporting assurance and reporting on the execution of strategy.
  • Strengthening the link between business planning and enterprise risk management.
  • Contributing to the scrutiny of business plans and performance reporting through our officer-led governance groups.

We seek an experienced and well-established business planner, who is able to use their skills to bring senior stakeholders and teams together to define and then deliver brilliant outcomes for residents and colleagues alike. As such, the key skills required include but are not limited to;

Leadership

Strong experience of leading in a matrix-management environment, adept at working with colleagues enabling them to be the best they can be to support successful outcomes for them and L&Q. High level of competence at delivering through others, particularly senior partners.

Business Planning

Highly adept at turning strategy in to business / delivery plans. Excellent at utilising strong relationships that enable the development of short- and long-term business plans. Ability to make the complex simple and turn conceptual ideas into concrete delivery.

Assurance

Highly inquisitive and analytical, able to assess and scrutinise business plans to ensure they are comprehensive, robust and joined up. Experience of working with governance groups to provide oversight and assurance of business plans.

Communication and Influencing

Highly adept at communication through all media, at all levels, but particularly with senior colleagues. Communicates with integrity, clarity and impact. Strong influencing skills and ability to operate successfully in a large, complex business setting.
