Working with organisations across the UK, they are transforming the response to domestic abuse. They design and deliver support to thousands of adults and children every year, putting survivors’ voices at the heart of everything they do, whilst challenging and supporting perpetrators to change.

Our client is now looking for a Public Affairs and Policy Officer to join their team on a permanent, full-time basis, working 37.5 hours per week.

The Role
As a Public Affairs and Policy Officer, you will play a vital role in developing our client’s engagement with the government and enhancing their policy-influencing capacity.
Specifically, you’ll lead on parliamentary monitoring, and manage our client’s parliamentary stakeholder contact database. This will involve reporting on government activity, updating information and seeking new opportunities for engagement with parliamentarians.
You’ll gather input from consultations, drafting responses and representing our client at stakeholder meetings and policy-related events. Alongside the Head of Public Affairs and Policy, you’ll promote policy positions and create effective public affairs influencing strategies and projects to help improve the response to domestic abuse.
Additionally, you will:
- Develop clear, well-researched, high-quality materials for external and internal stakeholders
- Lead on planning events to highlight our client’s practice and policy recommendations
- Maintain an accurate and secure audit trail of all relevant communications
About You
To be considered as a Public Affairs and Policy Officer, you will need:
- Experience of the workings of government and parliamentary procedure
- Experience of developing and implementing effective public affairs strategies, including successfully influencing political stakeholders
- Experience of supporting policy development through written communications for Government and parliamentary audiences
- Experience of working on political or charitable campaigns
- Strong political understanding and judgement
- A strong understanding of public policy processes including the UK Government, local government, devolved administrations, national agencies and parliamentary procedure
- Exceptional policy development and analysis skills
