This role is 40 hours per week based mainly Monday to Friday and flexibly delivered between 8 am - 6 pm. May be required to help cover shifts but this would be rare. The salary includes on-calls shared between a large team.

As the Service Manager, you will be responsible for leading, inspiring your team, and putting the tools in place to ensure the services are safe, caring, effective, and well-led, whilst complying with the new Supported Accommodation Regulations. You will report to the company Operational Manager (current Registered Service Manager) and Directors. It is expected that you will complete successful registration with Ofsted to become the Registered Service Manager of the service.

You will work in a multi-disciplinary team with social workers, qualified teachers, registered nurses as well as a dedicated team supporting recruitment. You will also have 24/7 on-call support.

Duties include:
  • Protect clients from threats to their health, welfare, and normal development, both from inside and outside the home and encourage them to be cared for so they may thrive and be happy
  • Ensure that key stages in the stay of clients such as admission and discharge are properly managed and reflect decisions recorded in care plans.
  • Ensure that clients facing crises and stresses are offered appropriate additional support.
  • Manage, support, and motivate the Supported Accommodation team, conducting supervision and appraisals and ensuring provision for staff development
  • Recruitment and management of staff within service lines
  • Ensure monitoring, measuring, and reporting on all operational issues within agreed formats and timescales, including opportunities and development plans

Person Specification:

Essential
  • Working experience in the area or relevant to children's residential social care
  • Evidence of continuous and relevant professional development
  • Good understanding of the following legislative frameworks: Supported Accommodation Regulations, Health and Safety/ Fire Safety, Safeguarding, Employment Law and Data Protection/ GDPR
  • Experience leading and supervising teams.
  • Full UK Driving Licence and access to a vehicle (Driving to various projects across counties will be a requirement)
  • Ability to represent the organisation to external bodies and members of the community.
  • Willingness to work flexibly
  • Ability to manage workload, be self-motivated, and deliver deadlines
  • Willingness to complete direct work and shifts including sleep-ins, weekends, and bank holidays, when absolutely necessary.
  • Positive, non-judgemental value base and ability to demonstrate a commitment to equal opportunities and anti-discriminatory practice

Desirable
  • Significant Working & Management experience in the area or relevant to children's residential social care
  • Social Sciences Diploma or at least 1-year experience at management level
  • Robust understanding of the implementation of the supported accommodation regulations (or similar eg Children's Home regulations)
  • Experience working with OFSTED, its requirements, and recommendations, related to residential social care
