Sales Manager – Home Audio - UK Distribution


About the Role

Would you like to lead the UK sales team of the worlds leading manufacturer of high end audio products?

You would be responsible for sales into the UK market of PMC's home audio products and also other complimentary audio brands.


PMC clients include; Stevie Wonder, Calvin Harris, Kraftwerk, Elbow and many more. Corporate clients include; The BBC, Apple, Google, Capitol Studio LA and Metropolis London to name but a few.


Purpose of the role:

The role includes developing and maximising all UK retail & custom installation distribution opportunities within their appointed area, to increase sales and brand awareness for PMC and third-party products. Responsibilities include overseeing one Business Development Manager accountable for their area.


Key responsibilities will include:


Duties for the UK region include:

  • Preparation of the UK division’s annual business plan
  • Achieving the company’s UK sales and profit objective through the planning, appointing and maintaining a professional and effective UK distribution system, including a specialist Audio dealer network.
  • Identify new third-party products and product ranges and lead feasibility and viability studies in conjunction with department heads and the CEO for approval by the board.
  • The preparing of the division’s monthly sales order intake forecast for a projected 12-month period and updating this monthly.
  • In conjunction with the CEO and Finance department, setting the UK stocking policy to ensure appropriate availability of stock to meet dealer/retailer sales orders.
  • Overseeing ordering third-party product stock and maintaining stocking levels in quantity and value per agreed policy.
  • The recruitment and maintenance of an appropriately experienced and qualified Regional Business Development Managers (BDM).
  • Performance management of the BDM team, in all respects including sales, professionalism, time management, expense control and any other necessary aspect to ensure the success of PMC in the UK.
  • The setting of sales order intake targets for each BDM to ensure the achievement of the sales order potential of each dealer/retailer.
  • Attend planning meetings twice weekly and report to the CEO on sales invoicing forecasts.
  • Oversee Ex Demo stock and distribute lists to the Sales team to highlight periodically or as required.
  • Report monthly on the performance of territory, marketing and competitor activity.


Responsibilities for their geographical area includes (UK South):

  • Grow PMC distribution group turnover for their area, through existing retailer & integrator base and new opportunities.
  • Position the brands accordingly with appropriate retailers & custom installers within the designated territory and make PMC Distribution offerings the primary focus for each vendor.
  • Establish and execute a marketing strategy for each market in Home Audio and CI on a yearly basis, and to cover specific new model launches when required.
  • Agree with each vendor yearly sales targets and ensure that the retailer has all the necessary support and tools to achieve this figure.
  • Manage existing accounts by making regular customer visits to maintain strong relationships with PMC UK.
  • Through training, ensure all vendors and their staff fully understand PMC UK Distribution as a company and its product portfolio, which applies to the custom and consumer sectors. This will include brand philosophy, USPs, and technology within all product ranges.
  • Obtain local market information, forecast and analyse budgets within each market to establish areas of opportunity for future product development and sales growth. Look for new market opportunities in other channels.
  • Liaise with industry bodies, such as CEDIA and Clarity.


Desirable attributes:

  • Ideally you will be based in the South of England due to being responsible for the Southern Territory
  • Office based work at our Biggleswade Head Office will be required weekly
  • Must be a strong team player and share information and initiatives with the rest of the sales and marketing team that will benefit other markets
  • Experience in identifying new distributors and sales opportunities
  • Experience in formulating and managing sales budgets and marketing plans.
  • Be entrepreneurial in their thinking and have a solid solutions/actions drive and ability.
  • You must be highly motivated, outgoing, and have a strong track record of success in UK sales/product support.
  • Be confident at presenting to all levels, to individuals or larger groups.
  • The candidate shall be able to demonstrate the ability to communicate in English, both written and spoken word to a very high standard.
  • Some overseas travel may be required.
  • You will be required to work weekends on occasion to meet this requirement.


Qualifications and experience:

  • Experience managing other members of a team
  • At least five years of sales experience in the audio industry
