Draughts - Duty Manager - Job Description

Role Overview:

The Duty Manager role is integral in helping the team delivering outstanding customer service and creating a memorable experience for our guests. This role combines the excitement of a dynamic dining environment with the fun and engagement of board gaming. Responsibilities include team management, welcoming guests, managing reservations, serving food and beverages, and fostering a vibrant, inclusive atmosphere that aligns with Draughts' values.

Key Responsibilities:

Guest Service and Experience:

  • Quality Assurance: Ensure the quality of service expected at Draughts.
  • Customer Engagement: Engage with customers regularly.
  • Venue Atmosphere: Control the quality of the venue atmosphere (vibe), ensuring it aligns with the brand experience.
  • Lighting and Music Management: Maintain the appropriate lighting, music, and energy of the staff for the time of day.
  • Training: Oversee staff training in the GMs/AGMs absence.

Operational Duties:

  • Leadership: Deputize in the absence of the GMs and AGMs.
  • Stock Management: Monitor stock levels, conduct weekly stocktakes, and order supplies if required by the GM.
  • Performance Evaluation: Evaluate employee performances on shifts and report to GM.
  • Cleanliness and Safety: Ensure the venue meets all cleanliness standards specified by Draughts and maintain all company compliance requirements and Health and Safety standards.

Team Management:

  • Support and Guidance: Work with the GMs and AGMs, assuming the AGMs responsibilities when they are on holiday, away from the business, or promoted to another role.
  • Team Development: Foster a positive setting for the team to thrive, ensuring effective communication and collaboration.
  • Feedback Delivery: Deliver feedback effectively and positively, maintaining an openness to take on feedback themselves to make positive improvements.

Qualifications:

  • People-Focused: A passion for driving development and a people-focused mindset.
  • Industry Experience: Experience in hospitality, leisure, catering, or food retail.
  • Budget Understanding: An understanding of budgets and targets, and the ability to implement initiatives to meet these.
  • Effective Communication: An effective teacher and learner with the ability to deliver feedback effectively and positively.
  • Enthusiasm: A positive energy and enthusiasm for the role.
