Main Responsibilities:

  • Evaluates and interprets research-based pathologic studies for the purpose of developing novel, safe drugs intended for human use. These studies are intended to support target identification and validation, animal model development, efficacy study read-out, immunohistochemical-based assays, cell-based assays, preclinical biomarker development and evaluation.
  • Serves as an external expert consultant providing pathology support across the Translational Pathology portfolio with deliverables largely driven by project milestone and/or task.
  • Reviews and characterizes (scores) slides for IHC assay optimization and validation, for image analysis including Quality Control/Quality Assurance aspects, and to help interpret results for biomarker studies and inform selection of markers.
  • May perform high-quality annotations to support the training, testing, and validation of machine-learning algorithms.
  • May help assess image analysis tools with the aim of increasing efficiency while maintaining quality of data generation.
  • Ensures own work is compliant with Good Clinical Practice (“GCP/GxP” good practice quality guidelines) and Safety Health and Environment standards and all other relevant internal and external regulations and standards.


Minimum Requirements:


  • Medical (M.D.), veterinary degree (D.V.M.), or equivalent
  • Board-certification or Fellowship of the Royal College of Pathologists (or equivalent professional certification) in one or more fields of pathology (e.g. histology, cytology, immunohistochemistry, in situ hybridization, molecular pathology, genetics)


Desirable:


Extensive knowledge in the field of pathology (5+ years post-certification experience), preferably in diagnostic or pharmaceutical industry

Expertise in gastrointestinal/genitourinary (GI/GU) and/or gynaecologic pathology.


Proven ability with experience in a similar role, ideally within pharmaceuticals, biotech or diagnostics industry, but candidates with a relevant academic background would be considered
