Interaction Learning and Development is a behavioural training consultancy. We are an organisation in growth, planning to double our business size in the next 5 years – so these are exciting times.

We currently employ 11 people and work with a further 20+ freelance associates. We specialise in the design and delivery of bespoke, experiential development programmes for both private and public-sector organisations; we work across the UK and, occasionally, internationally. This role is UK based.

About you

You have business development experience and are keen to progress in a new role. You are fired up by sales and marketing, enthusiastic, positive, pro-active and excited by the opportunity to make a difference and drive growth for a business with a rich history, strong market presence and masses of potential.  

You need to be comfortable driving BD efforts forward independently whilst collaborating and working alongside the internal team who also actively contribute towards our BD work.

You must be comfortable working remotely to identify and drive business development efforts and able to build relationships quickly through virtual and in-person contact.

Being adaptable, good at time-management and having the ability to multitask and juggle various priorities is essential as this is a part-time role.

You are resourceful, keen to demonstrate your BD know-how and ensure best practice. You’re committed to delivering results that demonstrate your value and expertise.

The role

We are looking for a passionate and experienced individual to join our small, busy team in a Senior Business Development Executive role to support and enhance BD efforts. 

The focus of the role is to increase brand awareness and interest through lead identification and targeted activity and to build the health of our sales pipeline through securing meetings for internal Consultants with qualified leads.

This is a fixed term, six-month contract. You will be required to work 20-25 hours a week. There is also the possibility of a permanent role for the right candidate. 

Interaction L&D operates a flexible homeworking policy. Your contracted place of work will be our offices in Bristol but you can be predominantly home-based, with travel for meetings etc. As such, we anticipate that the successful applicant will have a suitable home office environment and high-speed internet connection. We may ask you to work from our offices in St Nicholas House in central Bristol from time to time (on average once every 4 to 6 weeks) and potentially more frequently during your induction period.

The role is varied (with ad-hoc BD & Marketing duties as they arise) but primarily will involve:

·       Research and analysis:

Identifying potential clients, market trends and growth opportunities in the wider market as well as analysing and ensuring optimised use of our current database and network. Making strategic and tactical recommendations based on this research, including an initial ‘sense check’ of our current activities, BD approach, processes, database and sales pipeline.

·       Brand awareness:

Using existing online and physical collateral (website, social channels i.e. LinkedIn and our own materials etc) to create and maintain a broader programme of social media activity, digital marketing, and marketing campaigns. To work alongside our internal Brand Manager and BD Lead to identify gaps in our collateral and required action/s. To contribute towards thinking and planning for external events.  

·       Lead Generation:

To contribute to the health of our sales pipeline by recommending and driving targeted digital marketing campaigns, sector/industry/training need based marketing, sector events, referrals and to assess new tender opportunities. To actively approach targeted companies/individuals to initiate/build contact and further qualify opportunities. To feed meetings with qualified leads to internal consultants.

Opportunity management:

To monitor our Sales inbox, filter and assess tender opportunities and liaise with wider BD team on shortlisted options. To complete standard PQQ/ITT templates within specified deadlines. 

Measures of success

We will agree KPIs with you (regularly reviewed), establishing clear priorities such as:

·       creation of a structured approach and programme of activities feeding into the existing plan

·       target number of qualified leads

·       overall health of the sales pipeline and progression of contacts/opportunities

·       number of enquiries in, and qualified meetings booked

·       level of social media engagement

·       impact of activity on website statistics over time.

Requirements

Candidates must be able to demonstrate:

Essential requirements

·       3+ years BD (sales and marketing) experience

·       Proven track record of fulfilling similar roles

·       Drive, enthusiasm and passion for all things BD

·       Social media and IT expertise (inc. CRM, LinkedIn)

·       Analytical skills and ability to provide evidence-based rationales

·       Interpersonal skills, ability and confidence to network

·       Excellent communication skills – written and verbal

·       Ability to work at home remotely using own computer equipment and reliable internet connection

·       To be able to travel to the Bristol area for meetings etc. 

Desirable requirements

·       Experience in the L&D world

·       Prior SME experience

What you’ll get

·       Salary of £30-£40k with a pro-rata amount for part-time working.

·       Suggested part-time hours are currently 20-25 hours per week but we are open to discussion on how this might work best.
