Role Overview
The Head of People and Culture will play a critical role in driving the strategic development of their people operations and organisational culture. You will be a key member of the leadership team, responsible for fostering an inclusive, positive, and high-performance culture that aligns with their mission and values. Your leadership will be vital as they scale up, ensuring that their people strategies support growth, retain top talent, and build a motivated and engaged workforce.
Key Responsibilities
- Strategic Leadership: Develop and implement a comprehensive People and Culture strategy that supports the organisation’s growth objectives and long-term mission.
- Organisational Culture: Cultivate and promote a positive, inclusive, and values-driven culture across the organisation, ensuring alignment with their mission as they scale.
- Talent Management: Oversee the full employee lifecycle, including recruitment, onboarding, performance management, professional development, and succession planning.
- Employee Engagement: Develop and implement initiatives to enhance employee engagement, wellbeing, and satisfaction, ensuring a supportive and motivating work environment.
- Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI): Lead DEI initiatives, ensuring that the organisation’s policies, practices, and culture are inclusive and equitable for all employees.
- HR Operations: Oversee HR operations, including policy development, compliance, employee relations, and HR systems, ensuring they are efficient, scalable, and aligned with best practices.
- Learning and Development: Design and implement learning and development programs that support employee growth and the organisation’s strategic objectives.
- Change Management: Lead change management initiatives to ensure smooth transitions as the organisation grows, with a focus on maintaining morale and productivity.
- Leadership Development: Partner with the executive team to develop and mentor leadership talent within the organisation, fostering a strong leadership pipeline.
- Stakeholder Engagement: Work closely with the CEO and Board of Trustees, providing insights and updates on People and Culture matters, and contributing to the overall strategic direction of the organisation.
Key Skills and Experience
- Experience: Proven experience in a senior HR or People and Culture role, ideally within the non-profit sector or a mission-driven organisation, with a track record of successfully scaling up operations.
- Strategic Thinking: Strong ability to develop and implement strategic HR initiatives that align with organisational goals.
- Leadership: Demonstrated experience in leading and developing high-performing teams, with the ability to inspire and influence at all levels of the organisation.
- Cultural Stewardship: Passion for building and nurturing an inclusive and positive organisational culture.
- Communication: Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to build strong relationships with diverse stakeholders.
- Change Management: Experience in leading change management processes in a growing organisation.
- DEI Expertise: Strong understanding of diversity, equity, and inclusion principles and practices, with experience in implementing DEI initiatives.
- HR Knowledge: In-depth knowledge of HR best practices, employment law, and regulatory requirements in the UK.
