The Growth Company’s (GC)CfA team have an exciting new opportunity for a Head of Business Development to lead and manage the Business Development Team within CfA to increase revenue through commercial sales opportunities through existing products, new product development and introducing new products to market.

Centre for Assessment (CFA) is a leading UKAS-accredited certification body specialising in providing assessment, certification, and training services to thousands of clients both nationally and internationally. With over 20 years’ experience in the assessment and certification industry, CFA work in partnership with a highly skilled team of auditors and assessors to provide a client-focused, value-adding service.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Work with the Service Director, Certification Manager and Client Service Manager to develop business development strategies.
  • Liaise with the Marketing Manager to agree on marketing strategies and plans with the aim of winning new business.
  • To be involved in the development, promotion, and delivery of a diverse range of products and services.
  • Build excellent relationships with clients and consultants to diagnose business needs to effectively position our range of products and services.
  • Respond quickly, professionally, and effectively to all new leads and client enquiries.
  • Develop and maintain excellent relationships with clients that result in the take up of services and maximise the business opportunity.
  • Carry out all aspects of role in line with CfA, Growth Company and accreditation requirements.
  • Provide monthly Management Information with accurate and meaningful information as required to log appropriate interactions and activities.
  • Identify opportunities for own development and maintain own knowledge of contract/policy developments to maximise business development opportunities.

  • Proven critical thinking and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to identify opportunities and to be innovative.
  • Great planning, management and administration skills including sales, accounts and project management.
  • Excellent communication and networking skills including the ability to produce both oral and written presentations.
  • Well-developed IT skills, including an understanding of computerised management information systems, spreadsheets, diary management and email.
  • Ability to manage several tasks and projects simultaneously and effectively balance priorities.
  • Knowledge of management systems and other CfA services.

Skills Required:

  • High commercial awareness and understanding within the certification sector.
  • Has a business degree, a degree-level qualification with a management body or the relevant business experience to match those.
  • Significant experience in a similar sales/business development role and proven record of achieving results in a B2B environment.
  • Experience in producing highly professional commercial proposals and business reports following the diagnosis of business needs.
  • Extensive experience in people, contract and project management.
  • Managing the customer journey from enquiry to winning business.
  • Building networks of associates to refer business.
  • Developing and maintaining effective working relationships with key customers and other stakeholders.
