Role: Construction Products Technical Assessor

Contract Position

Location: Remote, covering the UK


We are actively seeking independent Technical Assessors specialising in construction products, specifically in areas such as clay and ceramics, glass and glazing, pre-cast concrete products, and ready-mix concrete.


We are looking for individuals with expertise in the following areas:


  • In-depth, practical knowledge of pre-cast concrete products and structures.
  • A degree or equivalent in Civil Engineering, Building Construction, or Material Science is preferred but not mandatory; candidates with less experience are expected to hold a BSc or relevant vocational qualification.
  • Experience with ready-mix concrete applications in civil engineering, residential, industrial/commercial, agricultural, high-rise, and infrastructure projects, as well as other specialised areas.
  • Knowledge of clay and ceramic products such as bricks, pavers, pipes, roof tiles, floor/wall tiles, chimney liners, tile adhesives, and related products.
  • Experience with various glass products, including insulating glass units, multiple glazed units, sheet glass, laminated and toughened glass, glass used in curtain walling, and similar products.


Our External Technical Assessors play a pivotal role in the UKAS assessment process, delivering essential expertise to ensure rigorous assessments within these areas.


Key Skills Required:

  • Experience typically gained in a commercial testing laboratory or within the civil engineering field.
  • Demonstrated expertise in sectors such as building control, product certification, and production, supported by relevant qualifications.
  • Specialised knowledge in specific certification areas is highly desirable.
  • Experience in internal or third-party auditing or assessments, and familiarity with standards including ISO 17065, ISO 17020, and ISO 17021.
