Director of E-Commerce

Furniture Village are currently looking for a talented and committed Director of E-Commerce, to join our team based in Slough. This is a full-time, permanent role, and you will receive a competitive basic salary, plus a performance-based monthly bonus - 10-20% of monthly salary.

The Director of E-Commerce role:

The successful candidate will be responsible for growing the online performance, driving strategic initiatives and delivering a ‘best in class’ omnichannel customer experience. This is an ideal opportunity for an experienced, highly customer-focussed e-commerce professional with proven ability in the Furniture/Homewares retail sector.

What you will be doing as our Director of E-Commerce:

  • Driving and implementing a comprehensive e-commerce strategy that aligns with and accelerates our business growth.
  • Identifying market trends, competitor activities, and customer preferences to optimise the online platform.
  • Building and leading a high-performing e-commerce team, providing strategic direction, mentorship, and support to team members to achieve the business objectives.
  • Utilising analytics to track KPIs and provide regular reports to senior management.
  • Collaborating with marketing and agency teams to optimise conversion rates and CX.
  • Ensuring SEO markers are hit to ensure traffic flows to the website
  • Tracking and demonstrating the value of online in generating leads and driving footfall in stores.
  • Overseeing the user experience designing and implementing strategies to enhance website usability and discoverability.

What we are looking for in our Director of E-Commerce:

  • Proven track record in scaling e-commerce operations with a deep understanding of omnichannel retailing, e-commerce technologies and digital marketing.  
  • Adaptable, customer-first leader who thrives in fast-paced environments and fosters a collaborative culture.
  • A good understanding of the omni-channel, furniture sector landscape. Including ‘bricks & mortar’ retail.
  • Highly growth-focused with an understanding of the commercials across the business.
  • Proven experience in tracking leads and customer touchpoints throughout their journey.
  • Experience of working with brands that have multiple stores across the UK.
  • Familiarity with emerging trends and technologies in the e-commerce landscape.
  • Experience in website management and functionality.
  • SFCC (PWA kit) platform or other composable, headless storefront knowledge would be advantageous.
  • Analytical mindset with the ability to interpret data to influence strategic decisions.

Salary and benefits you will receive as our Director of E-Commerce:

  • A competitive basic salary
  • Performance-based monthly bonus- 10-20% of monthly salary
  • Annual ‘Family Partnership’ staff profit share scheme (after 12 months of service) – 2024 award equated to 4% of annual salary.
