You dont need to have any previous firefighting experience - just the passion to protect and help your community.On-Call Firefighters have everyday lives and jobs until their alerter sounds and they become professional Firefighters responding to a range of operational incidents when required. Being a Firefighter is not just about fighting fires. An important part of todays service is fire and road safety prevention education and safeguarding. When an emergency does occur our Firefighters are fully trained and equipped to deal with a range of emergencies. On-Call Firefighters make up approximately 90% of emergency cover in the UKwhich makes them an invaluable part of our society.Below is a table of the levels of contract that the service offer. There is no maximum age limit for applications.have no unspent criminal convictions at the time you start employment. Unspent criminal convictions at the time of application can be discussed at the first contact meetinghave the right to work in the UKbe able to drive at the start of employment. You can apply before you have a licencehave good eyesight so that you meet the visual standardshave a good level of strength and fitness - you will need to be able to reach level 8.8 on the bleep test.have a good grasp of Maths and English.
